How crazy is it, that in this age of technology I have no item with me that can tell me the outside temperature at work (rode to day so no car). I remember growing up with a thermometer on the wall so you always knew the temp. Now I have to google it, but it'll only give the temp of the suburb the station is in. It's like we got too arrogant with technology and have lost vital instruments that were once ubiquitous to our parent's/old man Jase's generation.

Looks like bits from PartSouq are not worth it compared to local dealer price.

 

A water pump ex US would cost me $60usd plus shipping and I can buy one here for $66usd. I was also looking at a full engine gasket kit (to cover all bases when I do the heads) for $214usd plus shipping and I can buy locally just the gaskets I need plus a rear main seal for $290usd. 

 

 

At least I know if there are any stuffups, they can be dealt with locally much more efficiently.

Yeah, next chance for a low USD will be before the US election. Normally around election time it will steadily rise and post election it normally hits peak then steadies. 

 

AUD is up against the Sri Lankan Rupee which is awesome.

Yeah I have some USD in my PayPal (freelance web design), I've been withdrawing chunks while the AUD dipped to 70c. Getting about 1.35AUD/USD from the currency exchange. They reckon it might drop a bit lower early next year.

 

On another note, the button on my gear shifter decided to come off in our hands on the weekend. It looks like the guides/stops on the plastic have simply worn out over time. It will stay there, but a big bump in the car might make it pop out on its own. Car is giving me some headaches lately, but its driving really nice now after fixing the front brakes. I noticed one of the control arm bushings has a bit of an oil leak, so I guess that'll be the next thing. The front end of my car decided to completely shit itself this year, probably from driving it on the city roads dating my gf. I've replaced bearings (resulted in a replacement CV), bushings, pads etc. to get it driving nicely again.

Not of that ever would have happened if you had a single turbo, so you should convert immediately, because otherwise the the horror that is the TT system will cause a catastrophic nightmare

Just clocked over 200k. Starting to show it now, but still get compliments on its condition. People are surprised when I tell them its age. Next service will be a timing belt kit. But I'm not sure how much longer I will keep it, I have had it nearly 5 years. Fork the haters, B4's are mad. Also not sure what I will replace it with at this point, likely another Subaru though.
