installed the auto headlight unit (JDM points for plug and play haha)
Properly finished installing a new headunit, works great! So the interior is almost back together
Took the battery out and gave it a little clean around the area, I'm pretty sure it has an aftermarket battery holder and tie down, and it looks kinda ugly. Gonna look at replacing it.
Intercooler got removed and I played with the intake pipes that were broken. I had an idea that if I was to heat it up with a heat gun and chuck it back on the the turbo outlet and let it cool, it might stay in the original shape. Gave it a go, and it worked, still some small cracks in the pipe around the end, but it seals down on the outlet and I don't have a boost leak anymore,
Took out my intake and cleaned out the BBOD box. I noticed I have an sti air filter too, does anyone know if they are a cleanable filter? it looks cool lol
I removed the BBOD and placed a cloth on top of the engine, sat it on top and plugged it in. Connected the car in diagnostic mode (black and green plugs connected) and cleaned it all out with a can of UEC, while it was clicking in diagnostic mode. I hope I did it correctly, I was going to replace the hoses, but they actually looked to be in okay condition, so I just cleaned them out. When I would shoot the UEC down the line heaps of blackish gunk would shoot out the other end, I kept going till it turned white and re installed after finishing.
Noticed the car felt a lot more responsive to throttle after cleaning it, and the first turbo felt a lot cleaner, second turbo still feels like it comes on very late, over 5000rpm. (Could be the ecv, is what I'm thinking)
Also cleaned up the little section of the engine back under the air intake
Hard to see the improvement via the pictures but it looks better in real life.
Order new gaskets for the rocker covers as they're leaking and the seals around where the spark plugs are. Think I'm also gonna bite the bullet and get a new intake duct because then I'll be happy that's it's in good condition, plus whilst I remove everything I can do some cleaning and replace some other stuff on the engine.
Can't wait to try finish these last things off, I'll get my full license in under a month and I can start driving the car haha woo

So much clean and tidy!
When you cleaned the BBOD were you just spraying UEC down the hoses or did you clean the solenoids? If solenoids, can you tell me how you did that? Is it TB cleaner or UEC or similar in one side while it's clicking?
And that was clever work with the IC pipe. Nice

Well I sprayed down the hose as it was clicking, you could see when it was open and closed because when it was closed, the hose I was spraying into would overflow, and when it was open until shot out another hose it was actually kinda funny hahaha I'm not sure if that's even right, I think mark has the right idea to rig up a 12 volt solenoid opener for cleaning. So much clean and tidy!

I couldn't believe how well it worked! Good old heat gun!

Does a wash and clay bar count?

Claybar is way more effort than I did today.
Clay cloth is faster....

It actually was a clay cloth Dunno why I said bar. I'd never heard of them until you posted about them a year or whenever ago. So easy and such a nice finish. Polishing tomorrow (day off, woot) with my air sander/buffer. Things you do waiting for parts to arrive... [/hijack]

The cap hoes in that hole correct. Its the flywheel inspection hole/Where you jam a screw driver to lock the engine to crack the crank bolt or undo the torque converter. It just sits in there.
As for the boogered up silicone id say its the PCV joiner. Pretty common for them to be fubar as they get hot and crack and so on
I check and realize mines hole is expose.... Is this a bad thing ??
I have wash down my engine a few times and I check my gearbox fluid and the oil look funny like water in it. Would the water be able to enter through that hole into the gearbox?
And while we at it....where to find the Bung and opening to change the gear oil?

Underneath the gearbox there's a huge bolt, undo that one and drain the fluid, I believe it's 22mm or something. It's in the workshop manual.I check and realize mines hole is expose.... Is this a bad thing ??

I don't think the whole is related to the gearbox oil.

Slow on the updates at the moment as I've been smashed with work lately. But was just wondering if you guys with gen 3's could post your gauge set ups, looking for a factory or close to factory look to mount some gauges. Or if I can't find something factory was thinking about one in the drivers air vent or something stealthy.
Post up some pics!

Mark made this setup which I then bought off him, left it in the car when I sold it. Defi racer in the vent, matched the bfm perfectly, even blacked out when off!

Legit was looking at them for a bit but they're so expensive. It's a possibility if I find a nice factory one tho
