Hey all,

Just picked up a 99' Gen3 Liberty as a little project. I've never owned a Subaru before so a few things are a little different to what I'm used to.

I'll be changing out the engine to an 06' EJ20 DOHC and wondering if I can just build the original manual box or is there a difference in mounting my old box

to a newer engine or if I should just source a gearbox from the same year?

Box will bolt up no sweat.

You'll have more issues with engine / wiring / ECU

When you say you’re swapping in a dohc EJ20, does it come with a turbo? If not, it’s probably not worth the effort. You’d be better off sorting another ej20 from a Gen3 for the job.

Cheers
