Being an MY00, your car might have OBDII but I don't think the ECU can be reflashed...

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

That doesn't make any sense.
Unless you knock a vacuum hose off or unpluged something the reso' wont affect anything.

I tried this one afternoon after work. All it did was add more noise and make me feel like i was going faster :P

I painted it up black so it didnt look to povo, cost me about $53 bucks all up with paint.

But after i got my rear muffler changed, i reckon it sounds better with the OEM intake on. There is too much noise coming from the engine bay (induction noise isn't that exciting on an EJ25 imo) with the bunnings racing intake, couldnt hear the zort note!

That is super clean Rusty, yours is the EJ20 isn't it? I've yet to see an intake mod do anymore than make noise. Other than a proper supercharger kit :P

I had a mesh Blitz one for a short period. Sounded cool on full throttle but on half it kind of whistled and was kind of annoying.

If you can figure out a design where it isnt sucking in hot air (ducting maybe) then its likely going to add some power and maybe some extra throttle response. If people are finding that there car is using more fuel than it was prior to the install, wouldnt this suggest that the CAI is drawing in more air (cooler air = more air) and the cars tuning needs to be rectified to manage the change, thus they do make a difference but likely need a tune to get the most from the new air/fuel ratios!

BTW, I believe you should always do an ECU reset after one of these.

i have now sold the car this was fitted to, but it did make a difference to my fuel economy... i did a reset and it was great, would crack over 500 around town... which was a pretty good effort really...

i finished it off with some piping down into the guard and beside the spotlight, which with the stock intake still inplace, would definately have been providing enough cold air to make a difference.... i'll reiterate, that i never said she went any faster, just had a good noise, but ultimaltey achieved what i wanted... which was what i was after, and perhaps even a bit of throtle response off the line.. and probably more noticeable in car parks when your just going slow... you didnt need to put your foot down as much ( talking 2 mm difference here) to pick up speed...

shit 500 round town is a great number!
Im not sure but I'm normally around 450 and 500, I think. But that includes one or two trips to penrith and back..

What is the easiest way to do an ECU reset? I'm a bit noob when it comes to tuning!! I'm definately interested in this however as i love economy, lol!

PS. My mate gave me a bluetooth OBD2 port the other week, could I use this combined with an app on my phone to add to/replace another method!?

Disconnect battery. Pump brake pedals a little to remove any residual power in the system. Leave for an hour. Come back, start car and leave until it is fully warmed. Turn off. The car then spends the next few drives getting used to any changes.

but ultimately i am most happy with the fuel econ gains and throttle response....

Nice clear photos there.
Can you please elaborate further on the gain in throttle response?
The blue junction pipe doesn't sit flush around the the intake box (sorry if there is a technical term, I don't know it). Is there a way of overcoming this or isn't it that big of a problem?

Hi mate, I'm EOS heritage, just had a name change... It just felt as if you didn't have to put your foot on the pedal as much when going slow... Seemed happier to rev...

As far as it not sitting properly it isn't much PDA concern... The filter is still in place... So no issue...

And thanks... The pics should be clear I'm a photographer my trade! :)

If you must do this (I can guarantee that you won't improve response, power or fuel economy) and don't want it looking so ghetto, here's a DIY I did on my old RX with proper intercooler piping and silicon joiners.

Get ya hand off it mate.

Wasn't being negative at all, just stating facts. For the record, it's clear for everyone to see that I never told the bloke not to do it. I told him of the actual outcome and of a tidier way to do it compared to using drain pipes.
