Started planning the wiring for the intake manifold today. Stripped back the loom tube and tape and figured out what needed to go where and what would reach.

h3QZjb5.jpg

Heres what ive got so far

  • TPS plug is different. 3 vs 4 wire. Will either switch the TPS or rewire for 4 wire TPS. I know they read the opposite of each other so it will depend what the ECU would like
  • IACV plug doesnt reach but have stripped it out of the loom to exit at a different spot so should reach
  •  PyF71xu.jpg
  • Crank position plug broke off so need to reattach that
  • FOxBqJy.jpg
  • Reloom with tube and black tape to make it look nice and protect it

Not much to do really. Also need to trim the turbo inlet end of the intake as that is too long. Not hard either

So close!

My GT's EJ205 has the same manifold and side-feed fuel rails (and 440cc injectors). I'm not using any of it, if you find something's busted and need a replacement let me know what it is and I'll stick it in an overnight post bag.

Ive still got the loom that came with the gen 3 so should be ok for connectors and things. Ill keep you in mind though

Hmmm... Nice work mate! It's all seeming a little too easy - or is it all the extra hands you have on deck?

I'm not 100% up with why you're stripping the 25's engine loom down to use though :/

Keep up the good work! Long(ish) weekend coming up - win!

Cheers

Heres something interesting. The TPS on the car was a 4 pin which is old and reads the opposite of what the ECU wants (4~v closed instead of 0~) so swapped the 25D one over. However the arm that contacts the throttle body is 180 degrees out so wouldnt work for 50% of the throttle travel. The one from the 25D is on the left. I need a 3 wire TPS that matches the arm position of the one on the right

KorE2ap.jpg

Enter EJ22/200SX SR20DET TPS. 3 wires, same throttle arm thingo as the one that came off the car. Bueno

I'm not 100% up with why you're stripping the 25's engine loom down to use though :/

The intake manifold loom that was in the car has been modified. We believe it is a TT gen 3 loom and we're trying to avoid reinventing the wheel. Easier to rearrange the old loom than to try and work out someone else's work.

DId lots of little stuff tonight while Ty stripped his intake manifold.

bmURTZJ.jpg

Radiator is in. Using Tys old V3 STi radiator with my RX fans and a gen 3 hardline from the header tank to the overflow. Not ideal but it all works.

We got the power steering lines to work with the new pump. Its pretty ghetto but it should work for now.

Got the clutch slave on, changed the MAF plug to suit the orange label one.

Did you get proper hydraulic hose ?

Oil kills all the other hoses

Be very careful using stainless bolts on things like dump pipes, stainless has a habit of locking up after heat cycling, so when you go to undo them after a while you'll end up shearing the heads off them. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you have no idea how many bolts I've had to shear off of transformer airboxes because some muppet decided to replace the galv bolts with stainless ones. Replace them with galv if you're worried about corrosion.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

I was just going to mention that about stainless bolts with heat cycles.

Ive personally dealt with it at work when I worked in a foundry for 9 years on induction furnace HV equipment. End up having to cut them off.

Don't use stainless.
