Also, got it going for more than 2 minutes now?

What was the issue?

How big is your smile?

And the big one (because it's their driveway) - how impressed were your parents?

Cheers

Bennie

It was going for about 5 minutes while i bled coolant then it died. Hasnt run for more than 2 minute and runs like *******. Got a few things to try before i give up and buy a new AFM.

Parents havent caught on yet. I think theyre getting suspicious that I havent been driving it since they got home though haha

Is the AFM the same as 99-00 GC8 / SF5? If so I've got a known-good OEM one you're welcome to borrow for debugging. $3 postage instead of $130 for a sensor you might not need.

Nope. Old school 90~mm ones. Ive spoken to some egg heads about it and i dont think the sensor is broken. Id say the ECU is freaking out about the vacuum leaks that has been going on and cant correct for it anymore.

I've been really lucky to not have to chase down vac leaks.. Is it as easy as rigging up a 90mm PVC pipe cap at the intake with a valve and pumping it up with a bike pump while spraying all those hose joins with soapy water? I'd hope so, but I'm likely underestimating what's involved :(

Id say so. I know where to start haha. Havent clamped down a single pipe on the intake as its still all temporary

Gold! Better push it down the road to work on it then - or move it around the driveway while they're out so it looks like you've been out and about :P

So get on it and get this issue ticked off the list! Only then will you know if that's the issue!

Could it be the adjustment that was made to the iacv?

Cheers

Remember when cold these things will idle up to 1500 rpm. As it approaches temperature, it will slowly drop down in increments, I think 50 rpm steps.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

I've been meaning to ask too, how did the fitting of a black face meter go into the gen 2?

I reckon this still sounds like fuelling problems.  check your pump (voltages at pump, fuel pressure if you can - maybe just pull the return line and run t into a bucket to make sure there's always return flow showing that the pump-side exceeds the regulation pressure) and filters.

Quick update. Finally found the right hose clamp and clamped down the intake side. Car works again for now at least after an ecu reset and the clamp. Runs a lot smoother albeit on 3 cylinders cos a lead broke. Also finally got the clutch bled and my first HD stall lol

10 days no updates?

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

Well i had some tinkering time. Adjusted the tps and it ran better. Was still running mainly like ass. Had Will over and for the sake of it we tried swtiching the power and ground on the TPS. Now she runs smooth as silk. I dont know how it works but it does ¯\(°_o)/¯

Next problem is that it dies when the MAF is plugged in. Hoping the maf isnt dead cos orange maf but have some more adjusting to do. Getting close now!

And updates on the pero's suspicions?

Have you fixed that broken wire to the coil/plug, or was it not broken in the first place?

Cheers
