Find a whole H6 outback and swap it all over. Probably going to cost similar to a WRX swap in the long run and be more limited in terms of power.
My vote is for WRX or a TT swap for simple bolt in

i have considered a H6 Outback but I've spent probably 1500 on bodywork alone that wouldn't transfer onto an outback, apart from that I just like the look of a Liberty.
If I did an EZ30D I'd try and go budget and use my stock liberty 5 box, I reckon it would handle it provided I didn't launch hard and gentle gear changes...
I think it's a drop in affair apart from some modifications to the radiator.
I did forget about the TT swap, I think I swayed away from it after horror stories of the crappy tune, and knocking issues...
I guess I could still risk having a WRX conversion on my Ps... I've been through multiple RBTs and driven past many HWY Patrol even during double demerits and have never even been asked about it, or had to pop the bonnet.

If you're going with the H6 swap find a half cut or beaten up outback and swap everything over.
Another issue is the headers need to be modified to clear the manual cross member and there's some magic to removing the CEL from the missing auto box.

The H6 swap isn't p plate legal in a liberty either, but the cops won't pick up in it like they would with a wrx swap.

Ah ok so a little more involved than I thought.
If I did the H6 swap I'd probably rely on an rs30 cut from Ichiban because most of the outback I've seen have very high kilometres and look pretty thrashed

Hey guys, bit of an update.
My gearbox started giving me grief, wouldn't go into 1st or 2nd unless completely stopped, 4th and reverse syncro crunched so I picked up an Outback box with 230k kms (I know it's a lot, but it hasn't been abused like my old one) to keep me going until the engine swap.
I've got my old box still so I may rebuild if I can be bothered.
It seems to have fixed my drivetrain slack as well which was really bad before and had me thinking my diff mounts were shot, turns out they are ok.
Also replaced the shifter bushings, no slop now although gear selection is a little harsh, hopefully should loosen up a bit when the bushes break in.
I've also decided to pull my finger out and make up a harness for my Legacy BFM cluster so I will be ordering the plugs and pins from the States on pay day this week. Should have an update within the next week
Apart from that the car is all good, 220k kms and going strong, just 2 more years until I can pump some boost into her!

Thanks for the offer mate but i stressed day and night about what I would about engine swap and came to terms with keeping the 2.5 na till I get fulls. Too much muck about with insurance, driving on p plates and engineering etc

Test fitted the cluster this morning, everything works bar some burnt out halos, however I'm not liking the automatically headlight dimming, is there a way I can make the cluster full brightness all the time?
Thanks

So the Enkei's are gone, they looked awesome but I wanted some more aggressive fitment and fat tyres. So along came some genuine SSR GTV01s wrapped in 235/40/18 rubber. All my guards have been rolled flat and very slightly pulled. With some slight camber the wheels sit just inside the guard. Haven't driven too hard on them yet but scrub is minimal.
Plans for the future/new year - dynamat sound deadening, amp and speakers, swaybars, replace control arm bushes, replace steering rack bushes, side skirts and a front lip.
Also need to get engine, gearbox and diff mounts checked as I have a horrible drivetrain slack when coming on and off throttle and makes the car very uncomfortable.

I have a (new) set of Whiteline diff bushes for BE/BH if it turns out that's your driveline noise. Shoot over a PM if interested.
What size wheels are those?

Car is looking amazing man, it's crazy how big 18's look on Gen 3's and under. Truely mint!

Thanks for the kind words fellas.
The wheels are 18x8.5 +44. In normal driving there is actually no scrub, the only time I'll hear a little chirp for example is going through a roundabout or cornering hard. The dampening on my coils is fairly stiff so it doesn't move around too much. '
Ride quality has actually significantly improved going from 17 to 18, not sure if its to do with wider tyres or overall diameter but I don't feel the bumps as much now.
*edit - replaced repeated word.

Gave Jimbos gen 3 interior lighting thread. Great help!
-Updated climate control to white LED, finished off the JDM cluster (leds look uneven, can't see it in real life)
-Updated map, durry lighter, glovebox and dome lights to white LED.
-Added a voltmeter so I don't run my battery flat with the big sub in the back.
-Also added a JDM Momo wheel.

Nice touches mate, white LEDs are always nice. The momo wheel is super nice, a friend has one in his gen 2, not as nice as yours though

I've done all diff bushes, all rear suspension bushes bar 1 of the lower arms (both sides).
Mucked around with the Iacv, no luck there
Thing I'm yet to try:
New engine and gearbox mounts (coming soon)
Front suspension bushes
