Car is driving.. trying to iron out a cel..
Code 45 - pressure control duty solenoid.

As soon as I start to build boost it cuts. Getting to about 3.5k or 4k.. if I baby it I go further but can't build boost without fuel cut.

I think either I have a dead sensor or its blocked. wiring I'm 99% sure is correct.

Hi,

Sorry guys, I'm just too busy with everything to update everything as I go..

Let's bash him.

Top work TyDie, hope the pressure sensor isn't a big issue!

Cheers,
Nik

got a few issues that have cropped up..

I had an airbag light showing, thought it was just cause I didn't connect the driver airbag.

Turns out I Posted Image'ed the clock spring..yet another cost lol..

Boost solenoid and pressure duty solenoid are sorted mostly now.. periodically I was getting cel, would come and go but now they aren't showing up since I did a can of uec..

I'm getting idle air codes now But idle is fine..

But I think that's just cause we removed it to clean it.

Good things...

Got a boost gauge.. Just need to mount it somewhere..
Had one hard pull and she hit .
High boost of 17psi ..
Installing a walbro today as the stock fuel pump is still being used.

Need to adjust the hand brake a bit too but that's easy enough now I know how..

Oh and wheel alignment is due since I changed to the short rack.. other than this all is looking good haha. I'll start getting photos up when I can... don't have internet at home :/

So a bit of an update...

I have now installed the following...

Walbro
Turbosmart Kompact PlumbBack BOV
3in TBE with a High flow, 1 Hotdog, ending in a 2.5in Diff Back and a Magnaflow Straight through (4in Tip)
Silicone Under Manifold Intake pipe (Biggest nightmare EVER!)
Only have a occasional CEL for the IACV (on hard Left Hand Corners it seems to stick open? and leak boost)

She's rolling on a set of 225/45/17 Conti 3's now.. not bad rubber

Still need to get my Camber sorted but thats nothing too big atm..

So the biggest news..
Took her on the Dyno today (Springy Motors - known as a hard dyno to pull numbers on!)
came out as below..

the Boost spike is only since the TBE was installed... but i was expecting that as i haven't had a tune.

AFR's weren't too bad - a tad rich..

my shitty factory BCS is being a bitch though... i think that contributed to me not cracking the 160 mark..
it seems to flail a bit.. thus i'm going to be purchasing a new Grimspeed unit.. hopefully that will react a bit quicker and keep things smooth.

Danny was surprised at the figures, he was expecting 135 from it in its current state..
thinks with a tune he will be able to push up to 190 but with a few other things the magical 200 should be attainable... (something to aim for next year)

what ECU are you using? if it is standard pre 2001 don't both with the grimmspeed as you can't tune it and you won't get any good results.

get an aftermarket EBCS like blitz/greddy that way you can iron all the bumps out (that power dip @ 115kph)

Alex, i am using the standard Jap 6S ECU, I plan on getting a PowerFC eventually for tuning..
The Grimspeed can just be used as a replacement for the stock Boost control solenoid though right?
just saves me having to track down a good working 3port OEM replacement.

also..
Did a road trip to Adelaide and back...

Although the exhaust sounds tits.. its a bit loud for me already...
I went with what everyone else had recomended to me.. 3in TBE with 1 res and a stepdown to 2.5in diffback - Magnaflow oval straight through.. it doesn't really drone.. but it is a bit loud for my liking..
think ill be getting a 2nd Centre muffler installed.. hopefully drop the DB 6-7DB
ill get some vids up soon though.. today has been (missus mazda fix day) lol

is not going to help you getting another 3port. you can't make any adjustments it will operate exactly the same as your current 3 port.

on my old wagon i gained over 500rpm by changing over to the profec spec b 2, it held boost absolutely rock solid without any spikes. save the $100 on a GS 3port and go aftermarket. be sure to leave the stock solenoid in place or match the resistance of the solenoid with a suitable wattage resistor.

First Track day at Winton complete!

Fitted the 4Pots - but the bloody Courier didn't deliver my Track Pads.. so just used a fresh set of Bendix Premiums.. they were all-right..

flushed 1L of Castrol Response Super DOT4 through the system.

sorted my issue with 4th crunching on high RPM shifts (was low on fluid??? the sump plug was weeping) dumped all the Nulon stuff and replaced with Castrol Syntrax.. EXCELLENT FLUID!

Did some tyre swapping to get the camber worn onto the back.. and best tyre to the front Left (Clockwise track)

Had a great day out on track.. could have been cooler but still performed like a champ!

I didn't get around to fixing my Neutral Position sensor so pulling the 90 onto the main straight i would pop a CEL and have a massive pop as the IACV stuck open for a second... was a fair bit annoying (except the sound and the flame was awesome haha)
after driving a few laps i worked out how to drive around without it kicking the light..

Temps were a bit of a worry.. i caught it creeping up above 3/4 a few times but as soon as i backed off and got out of the dirty air from other cars it would drop almost straight away. although not a surprise as it was 34 on track.. bit warm but due to running so rich i was confident.

midday I ran out of fuel and copped the $2.10 rapeage for some 100 octane race premium.. car loved that!

towards the end of the day i noticed after 48Kms i had used Half a Tank!
pulled into the sheds and smelt allot of fuel, and my Fuel pump was making a heap of noise...

couldn't find any fuel but i suspect I have a leak around the FPR or RH injectors..

with saying that.. after I filled up for the drive home, I was monitoring it heavily and didn't have any issues.. fuel consumption was fine, no smell of fuel at any stops..

but it does give more credit to my starting issues being a fuel pressure thing..
going to try hook up a gauge under the bonnet this week and see if I'm loosing pressure while its off..

Mods to come now are new 42mm Alloy Radiator - Need more cool!

im going to change to a CAI POD setup.. The stock airbox is a bit of an issue now.. I could tell the Intake was a problem out on track.. just need to make something that isn't Ricer .. so probably black wrinkle coat or black anodized for anything that goes in.

I didn't realize how much the Turbo Heat Shields do!
so they will be modified to fit with the new Dump Pipe.. and re-fitted.. and Painted Blaaaaak like ... this
Posted Image

Because my turbo was literally red hot after one session.. and it melted some of the wiring harness tape i used to re-wrap my Harness during the conversion..

I'll be setting up a Fuel Pressure gauge under the hood for troubleshooting

The trickiest thing im going to try make some kind of removable Gauge holder that sits in my Bay under the radio..
with Oil Pressure, Temp and Water Temp..
something that i can remove and leave the plugs under the dash.. and then pull them out and connect for track days / spirited driving ;)

cant want to get back from Canada and get these things done!

Sounds sweet Ty! When I can afford to blow a set of set of tyres on the track, I'll be there haha. Winton isn't to far from the missus dads house which makes it easy too. What gear did you have to have to get onto the track? Can you just buy a 'day pass' license thing? I'm guessing a fire extinguisher was a must?

I have the same problem changing into 5th at higher RPM's. Only become a real problem since i got the centre diff replace and I'm guessing mechanic just replace with basic oil. Castrol Syntrax might be job for the weekend!

Keen to see this beast at a Car wash meet soon.
