Hey all; I've been talking to Shazza a bit about lowering my car after he prompted me about the Bilstien shocks with lowerd springs he's selling and I'm really unsure what to do so he suggested creating a thread as so many of you have the knowledge that could help me out here.

And yes, I'm aware that some may think i should search through the forum to find info; but thats difficult cos bits are missing everywhere, normally people will ask for help then it dies off and the solution is never publsihed soo... this is a thread personalised to my predicament :) Plus, I've been wanting to do this for a long time now, so i need to finalise it....

So basically, Shazza's shocks + springs are the Bilstiens with about 40,000kms on them and who knows if my stock shocks have ever been replaced, even if they were done at 100,000; thats 130,000kms ago! lol (as i'm pretty certain they weren't done at 200thou[didn't own it then]). And the springs are King Low up front and Bee-R in the rear.

When i was talking to Chris in person the other day, we discussed the matter. He said that Shane, as many of you know and i've met once, owned the Legacy RSK wasn't it? It had some Tein springs in it so goes the info from chris (I don't know what shocks?) And it sat really really nicely. like so:

Posted Image

Posted Image

That's the height i'd like mine.

Now with that in mind, if i bought what shazza is offering, how high would it sit? Because im guessing it wouldn't be that^ low and I'd therefore have to spend some more dosh on buying those springs that shane had. Leaving me with upgraded shocks and a set of springs to possibly sell..
BUT, i dont have money flowing out of my arse so would just going for the Tein springs be ...ok?

Chris said they come in at about $200, as this quick search shows: http://motors.shop.e...4506.m270.l1313
But i cant find ones for Gen3...

And the Bilsteins Im looking at about 500 from shaz

..If i were to buy those and not be happy i'd be looking at around 750, or if i skip the shocks it'd be only about 250. Writing it like that makes it seem like a no brainer to me, But i keep thinking about the advantages of the shocks.... Hopefully i've explained what im thinking clear enough to understand, because it's definitly not as clear as i'd like it to be hahaha

Any advice or alternatives anyone can suggest?

Really appreciate any help and time. :)

Oh and does shane still frequent this forum cos id like to ask him for the serial number of those Tein's.

Bilstiens will improve the ride quality, as will the teins. I had king springs on Bilstiens, and I didn't think it was that great.

If you just want to lower the car, buy springs only (sorry Shaz) if you want to improve the ride, buy the struts too.

Suspension threads are hard, because I think it all comes down to personal preference. I bought coilovers, expecting them to be rough as due to everyone's comments. But they are perfect!

Sorry if this doesn't answer any questions :P

An yes Shane now owns the blue focus RS on here.

I think overall, that I'm doing this more for looks. Seriously, i have no need for a rock hard stiff bodied corner eater beater. Unfortunately.

Coilovers are a dream for me hahah. Freedom to change height, camber, dampening would be amazing... But out of the question for now.

You definately helped adam! :) ..I already feel like buying the shocks may be out of my needs/price range.

Hahah yes I'm aware he got his RS after his other focus, and do actually remember seeing it on a page somewhere now lol. so he's just like Nick. a non subaru owner on a subaru forum ;)

yeah if you want as low as shanes the billy combo won't be low enough. if you can find picks of jais old rx on here he had tein ss springs on kyb's which made it sit just like shanes does too.

Oh, true. Its not that high really, But anyone who's seen Jai's or Shanes in person; would you say that this is higher despite angled shot? Fongy's first pic makes it look Tribeca-ish with front clearance. haha

I'm guessing this is how Jai's car was after suspension mods?

Shane had billies with tein s-techs...last time i looked they were $700 for the springs alone (best ones they make imho though) they had the best height ive ever seen on a gen3 with a spring/shock combo by far...it was perfect :)

Those billies were mine and they sat at a nice level...but couldve been the tinyest lower in the front, as the shocks are designed to have the extra weight of turbos and shiz over the front..the shocks made a massive improvement in driveability vs stock shocks!!

They have rsr rears with king spring front...maybe the king rears might even the whole lot out

Oh his old RX. damn lol

I was looking at his GT-B. that sits really nicely.

Like such: http://www.subyclub....903#entry158903

.......Shit, it has coilovers.

Were shane's different to Jai's red RX wagon? Cos the wagon sits much higher then shanes did?

yes - those pics of Jai's red wagon are with standard RX suspension (that was right after he got it and had only put rims on it). it sat much lower with the teins (almost the same as the GTB). pm him as see if he can send you any pics

This is the troofs.

Personally, i'd do the shocks too, as I don't like having a HMAS Liberty, but each to their own.

As for the height, PM Matt, I got them off him. He may have more of an idea as to the height of them then I do.

Cheers,
Shazza

I know most people hate pedders but I like my sports Ryder springs and shocks.
They drop the rear about 40mm or so which is the same as King lows but they drop the front about 60mm which is heaps more than Kings. With 225 40 18 tyres the body sits about 10mm above the front and rear tyres.

to me i look at 10mm with my fingers and think its too much. god i want coilies. :(

How much were the pedders JC? Good plus that they sit lower at the front then lows :)
