I was gonna do this on the gen3 but I got lazy and sold it before I had the chance....think its still held on with tape and cable ties lol

Had to dremel a curve into the bottom of the gauge pod..but after that it was perfect

Didnt even need araldite honestly as it was tight enough. ..but OCD kicked in lol

Just spoke to Jim at race clutch. ..clutch is finished and is on its way to me :D

After much talk between the two of us I have opted for a custom billet flywheel (mine was forked with heat fractures etc) which is actully a touch heavier than standard. So going against the "lighter is better" theory :P

The theory goes that for hillclimbs...ie going uphill, standing starts and punching out of corners the heavier fly will give more mid range punch and hook up better. He said I wont be dissapointed :)...hes amazingly passionate about his hatred for lightweight flywheels on turbo subarus lol

And am going a solid 5 puck centre with some special weave that Jim explained but I forgot as the man can talk the legs off a table lol, the solid centre will be more demanding to drive slowly on the road ive heard...but it will barely see the road for daily duties anyways?...and a 3200 pound customized pressure plate

Keen to see how it goes!!

Probably idle a little smoother too with the added inertia.

Sounds like the pedal will be considerably firmer.

I hate the STi clutch that was fitted to mine, too much pedal weight for everyday driving. I would rather break the clutch before anything else.

Jim does some tweaking to the pivot point and makes the clutch feel no heavier than standard.....he really knows his shit

This is on a six speed though.....5 speeds ya use the clutch as the fuse as itll break the box otherwise

6 speeds love tough clutches ;) and since this will be a toy car...so i dont mind a heavy clutch

Mine's a 6 speed too, but I still don't like the clutch.  :)

I have a solid center 5 puck from Jim in mine.
Was only a pain for the first few weeks then got the hang of it.

So im on holidays!! Missus was at work today and my list of shite to do aint getting any smaller.....so I locked myself in the car hole once again and got stuck in

Got the cosworth tgv deletes fitted.....needed the centre holes on the manifold elongated to fit up with the tgv deletes...as subaru modded them in the later ones....that was about the most difficult thing about the install though?

Very good quality bits I must say...the o rings seals top and bottom make install so easy...and they gave me the space I needed to fit the rotated turbo :D

I put the GBOD (green brackets of death) back over the injectors....minus one bolt each side which is the only prick thats hard to get to

Also bolted up the turbo and fitted up the AVO silicone intake.....to fit the turbo I had to remove the compressor housing barb as it fouled on the tgv housing still....blocked it up with a bolt, washer and some 3 bond....ill either drill and tap a new hole in the housing....or more than likely put a barb on the first inch of the fmic pipework? Im pretty sure putting it on the fmic pipework shouldnt affect the boost control? If anyone has any idea then im all ears :)

So only a few little things to do to the engine now...re-solder some connections, cable tie some bits, move some ground wires from the intake to the heads/block as the tgv deletes isolate the intake from the block

Tubo and intake on....FINALLY!!

This is where ive put the main ground off the manifold, on the oil filler neck bracket...pretty sure it should be good enough...wiring fit like it was meany to be there lol....will chick the fluke on it and make sure its got good continuity to the block

Now that the engine is sorta in its complete state I decided to play around with the oil catch can fitment and how the lines would be run

I was set on still using the now vacant air con compressor position...but it wasnt to be as easy as the old engine was...as I couldnt fit all the lines comfortably under the manifold

So after much trial and error I found a way to run them...nowhere near as tidy as the 95 wrx motor was, I think itll still look fairly neat..and easily accessible...which the other setup was not lol

Anyways after I found the position, I needed a bracket to hold the can firm.....out comes the box of random var bits and I found an old starter motor cable bracket..and with some grinding and dremeling I had it roughly in position...then once I was happy a bit of drill and tapping and its now nice and sturdy :D

The lines are only mocked up atm...they will be a bit tighter and done with black ties ofcourse lol

Gonna notch out one of the air con bolt holes off the alternator bracket so the pipes can have a cleaner run and then fit all the pipes up properly

Just out of interest the two top pipes go to the heads (joined together) and the pcv line...and the lower two both go to the intake

This bracket needs some tidying up and will be powdercoated with all the other bits later down the track
20141221_180130.jpg

You can see the black bit on the alternator bracket ill be grinding away...wont need to take that much out now though
20141221_180139.jpg

Line all mocked up as to how theyll run.....will make a bracket bit to sit above the alternator pulley for the lines to sit on and to stop them drooping into the pulley...which im sure they wont...but better to be safe ;)

Cheers Mark

The last thing a suby engine needs is more pipes lol.....but unfortunately there isnt much choice as to where to put these ones :(

Later when I go a dual can setup ill put it on the firewall or something...but for now im happy with the hose routing...considering theres 4 of the barstards to run lol
