Gold/wheels dark car is always a winner.

But really, any oem wheel would have been a winner over ROTA's. :P

Hahaha...yeah im not too fond on the current wheels either...mainly its the width though.....and these sti rims have proven their worth for a few years now :)

Id say repaint. Not much chrome on the car to tie it in with.

But if theyre cheap....... worth a try.

So I decided today im.gonna dig in and start the engine clean up....regardless of whatball the haterz say I removed the ac (I never use it anyways)....even contemplated the idea of removing the cruise control box..it cqn always be reinstalled later anyways right :)

Removed all the cooler pipework, intake pipework, untidy hids (may put these back in..but im not sure),horns which I wann hide behind the bumper or something, figured out what was going on with my charcoal cannister and will move that to the passenger side strut tower, removed the headlights and indicators and also took the spacers out of the bonnet hinge which was lifting the back up...dont like that look much anyways

May also put my battery and washer bottle in the boot to move some weight and free up some space

Turbo bolts got a good soaking in inox..ready to remove and rotate next week....also gonna do the throttle and iacv body coolant bypass whilst its all apart

Will head to autobarn next week and get a heap of vacuum hose to redo all of it in the bay..and ive got an rs boost solenoid mount now to remount the solenoid and sensor nice and tidy

Also gonna dump the coolant soon and install an alloy header tank and remove the radiator so I can take out the AC evaporator

All in all..a really eventful day...with lots more to come im sure :)

A/C evaporator is now out...coolant dumped and radiator taken out and flushed....header tank removed ready for alloy one

Turbo is out ready for rotating....found a few little oil leaks from the pcv pipework and a small leak from the coolant feeds to the throttle body and the iacv...but its ok as im deleting them coolant feeds anyways ;)

Will probably get some new pcv piping as mines rock hard...and my o2 sensor wiring is a bit meh..so might look at a new sensor aswell

Also gonna run all new piping from the head breathers to the catch can like I did on the gen3

also Matt if you want to see what the car looks like with chrome handles I do have pictures

Cheers Scott... i decided to just repaint the stock ones as the chrome just stood out way too much

Anyways...ive been super busy working 6 day (12hr shift) weeks and havnt had heaps of time to spend on the RS...but i had the past two days off and jumped in too get a little bit dirty....and i was filthy!!

My VF34 has now been rotated thanks to MSR (maybe a bit too much..but ill see) and i have a set of Billsy spec pipes on the way along with a gen2 airbox

I cleaned up all the PS fluid leak when i first got it, that leaked out of the reservior cap (or so i was told!!!) popped the bonnet yesterday to red fluid everywhere again?? FFUUUUUUUU!!!!! so i thought stuff this and promptly removed the PS pump and RS steering rack and began the job of trying to install the SF STi foz rack and pump i got given with the car......pump fit up nicely, just needed to file a cast off the water pipe

but the inlet pipe on the pump sits really high...is fine with no line on it with the bonnet closed, but with the hose on it fouls :(...so in an attempt to fix this on the cheap ive cut an inch off the pipe (theres still one barb on the pipe) and smooth out the new edge... hopefully that gets me out of trouble...if not ill be silver soldering it shorter lol

Once the rs rack was out i got under and degreased the whole subframe as much as i could, as it was filthy!! 22 years of oil, grease and general crap lol... and since i took the uppipe off to remove the rack i degreased all down that side of the engine as it had had PS fluid and oil from the old PCV pipework (this has all been replaced with new hose now ;))....might replace the oil return hose and clamps from the turbo whilst the uppipes off aswell for piece of mind

also got in and put my STi 17's on, gave the inner guards a good solid degrease and scrub whilst i was there and they went from brown back to black lol....will do it again once all the main stuffs done and i get to give it a super detail....anyways... man the front guards had been pumped lol...lucky ive got replacements (they had 8.5 inch +48 rims with a 5mm spacer?!!!! lol)....car looks different now...will need to accustom myself to the new look i think :) but itll look much better once the stock guards are back on without 1 milion inches of pump...and once i put some new nuts on as these ones are about  inch too long

another thing that was bugging me was that the boost solenoid and map sensor were not mounted and were just jammed in behind the DS strut tower?? it just rattled around and was super dodgy lol...So i got a used boost solenoid bracket as mine never had one :( and made a bracket out of staino to bolt the solenoid too and fit it on the stock rubbers, and trimed off some tabs, drill and tapped some holes and mounted the map sensor...than painted it all bbbllllaaaaccccckkkk...also got a fitting to fit into the apexi solenoid outlet as most people vent these to atmosphere but im gonna do it properly and plumb it back into the intake

ohh and i replaced this soft flexy bit of blue silicone that was acting as the brake vacuum line with proper solid rubber hose, bnt the hard line so it flowed with the loom a bit better aswell...now the line doesnt suck in under vacuum lol...and also pulled all the firewall loom back and reran it as it had been pulled at some time and was run around brake lines etc, not under them as they should be...looks a lot tidier now

starting to look rather stock now ;) (youll have to trust me as i havent pt any pics up yet)

So yeah im just chipping away bit by bit atm and hopefully itll soon come back together a hell of a lot tidier than it was lol, ive got till mid december til its due for rego...so thats a fair bit of time to get it so im really happy with it....but damn my OCD and finding things that could be fixed whilst im there haha

on another note i scored a super cheap (could not resist price) KillerB sump, windage plate and pickup, jdm series 2 guard indicators....some ALK bushes & RCK to go with my alloy control arms.... front and rear shifter bushings, tranny x-member bushes, "legacy" dash insert, alloy header tank, v2 sti nardi wheel, PWR PS cooler (same as my gen3 ) and my new x-force dump and cat which ill have a mate mod my old tcp auto staino sysem off the gen3 to suit :)...possibly with a hitech rear muffler??.................would like to find a cheaper set of staino UEL headers if i can aswell...but time will tell??

Mods atm are more aimed at stuff i can keep if/when the time comes to buy a v7 sti cut and install :D...ie suspension, exhaust, fmic etc etc

Will try post some pics up tomorrow if i get a chance.....and sorry for the long winded post hahaha
