I've watched a few events at this track over the years, the last 3 corners tend to sort a few people out.
Have you done many track days prior to this?
Thanks RX25SE, it's great fun.

The last 3 are good fun...but if hit wrong at speed can unsettle the car very easily as the switchbacks really unbalance the car
But theres a lot of time to be had in these corners if hit right

Finally the RS has had a final tune!!! Fark yes!!!
Went in to Micks on saturday morning and swapped over the borrowed tamioka fpr Mick lent me with the Tomei reg i bought and now stinking like E85 (it doesnt smell sweet in its raw form lol) i gave him the keys to hopefully finish this tune lol
Told him i dont care on power as i was happy as larry with 240kw..but want it to be safe with sweet afr's
So i sat down to watch some of the bathurst qualifying....and 10 mins later i hear the dyno fans switch off and think "fork off?!" lol
But happily he just wanted a hand to bump another bar of fuel pressure in to the engine as we were running out of injectors at approx 4 bar base pressure
And with this done he spent over an hour pushing the car to its limit (with this turbo) and in the end we ended up with a respectable 245.9kw atw
And in micks words "its a rocket" and the tune is "finally perfect"
HAPPY DAYS!!!!
The engine happily took more boost and has some excess fuel for the cold days it gets pushed

Make the power much earlier in the mid range and makes more torque now....and the afr is spot on all through the range
Very first tune curve

Most recent tune

Side by side for comparison sake

In other news
I have already installed the new 2 way plated STi diff...and the car feels much much more sure footed

And since i have a custom 20mm front swaybar on its way from super pro...i thought id touch up the ugly rear selbys bar while i had the time
In the lovely french blue...looks brand new!

Also whilst i was playing around i finally moved the horns from the annoying spot in front of the battery to behind the front bar and under the headlight....much better

I also adjusted and tweaked my expansion bottle funnel to sit a fair bit higher to try and stop it from sloshing out as much...and also cut the ugly kink off the over the radiator metal pipe
Few more things being fixed currently...more updates as they happen

Im sure one day your new motor will grow up to have a heart chock full of 207
Guess a 20K with a VF24 will do for now
But i reckon the set up you have going will put a pretty damn big smile on your face

I think so too. 25D is a mad engine when its not spewing headgaskets but need that boost

I love hearing builds where all the effort pays off. I don't know if I'll ever chase boost like this but it certainly sounds fun!
And what's this?! Have you changed your colouring scheme from matte black with more matte black to matte black with other colours?? You had been so dedicated to the matte black!
Long live the RS!

Anyway I reckon having a bit of pop colour among the under carriage should looks sweet anyway!
Cheers

Cause painting them is shite...they need powdercoating to last imhoWhy not paint the front one black then?
Anyway I reckon having a bit of pop colour among the under carriage should looks sweet anyway!
Cheers
Bennie
And i didnt wanna powdercoat 2 bars

And its not a bad thing highlighting the legal mods to detract from the most so legal lol
And the colour looks sweet as under there

Hahahaha cheers kong man....gotta get around to giving a proper all over clean...so many dirty bits still...and the flash pics highlight it and make it look so much worse lolThis car is like that perfect vagina we've all seen on a porn site.
So forking good.

Wanted to start thinking more about heat protection and stuff now the car is where it is
Was gonna put some ACL shielding around the brake and clutch masters ad they still cop a bit of heat of the dump...even with the ceramic coating
So after much research and a good price i opted for a Perrin dump blanket to go along with my PTP turbo blanket
Extremely good quality blanket! And works super well...only smoked a bit..but will probably smoke more once i take it for a proper hard drive as you'd come to expect
Real easy to install..just slip it on and lace it up from underneath, took all of 5 mins

Its unlaced in this picture

All done up

Also...
Got a silly price offer on a new COBB adjustable short shifter and since i wanted my shifter a touch higher i jumped at it!!
So easy to install (had the same on the gen3) and adjusted the upper portion as high as it allows, and the lower portion about halfway
Raised the height by about 15 to 17mm and reduced the throw by about 30mm over all
Even with the height increase its still a 18 to 20mm reduction at the knob

And...
Entered next months event...looks like a fun track layout!! Bit longer than the last by about 10 to 15 seconds. ..dont think its been used officially yet either
Goes in reverse in a few spots which will make it a bit more challenging
So trailers booked...suit and gears cleaned and ready to go..just waiting on the new front swaybar now

Super keen

I thought it about time i used some of the gold reflective tape ive had sitting on the bench forever
I know the few key spots ive wanted to use it and made a start on it today
#1 Protect things from the heat off the headers, yep even with ceramic coating they get farking hot! And there a fair bit around them that dont exactly like all the heat attention
So i pulled the radiator fans out this morning, wiped them down with some wax and grease remover and stuck on some of the gold tape along the bottom edge where the headers just radiate the heat straight in to the radiator
The tape goes on real well..but to curve it properly it needs a bit of heat (heat gun) so it can mould to the corner and stick properly
Also gave the inside of the fan cowlings a quick sand and a lick of paint as they had a small amount of surface rust coming through
One down

Fresh paint

And both all done and attacked with the heat gun

And its all re-installed, can see the extra heat shield ive put on the conduit, and also a rubber coolant hose sitting above the headers

And ive got a bit more to go on certain spots..like on the sump to stop the headers reflecting their heat into the oil as much...that was a trick Southy hinted to when i was crawling over his track car
Pics of that once done

Thanks for watching!

Cheers Jas.....itll probably only make the tiniest bit of difference
But a step in the right direction is just that
Its all about the little things

Covered 2 sides of the sump where the headers sit fairly close

Also whilst i was under there i noticed a section of the chassis covering where the air filter sits has lots of holes from the factory
Was gonna just tape over them..but since the up pipe sits fairly close, and i have tonnes of the gold tape left i covered them over with that

And i had a laugh at how the underside of my car now looks like a space shuttle hahahaha

Anyhow...im going for a drive
Peace out!

Agreed.
This is the difference between a car that has been built, and one that has been engineered.
