Only problem is, 1 purchase per unit, i was thinking of buying 2 256gb's and throw them in raid 0 but thought likewise on just getting a 500gb. I've already got a 128gb OCZ, but probs give that to my mate since his PC needs it most.

SSDs have come down so much in price. I remember paying like $300 for my 64gb haha. Still worthwhile

What's everyone's build look like?

iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2010)

Processor: 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3

Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (upgrading with more soon)

Graphics: ATi Radeon HD 5670 512 MB

Basically stock out of the box since I purchased it in 2010. I've got two free memory slots though which I plan to take up fairly soon just to maximise things a bit.

man, I used to get right into hardware. OC'ing everything i could.. Now you young'ns get perdy menus and can just tell the BIOS what speed you want it to run at.. maaan, we use to have to tweak every voltage and timing and test for days. Hell, most systems will let you do it in windows!

my system is like 2 years old. Plays TV shows, Movies, Netflix, YouTube, music, porn and D3.. Im happy.

Ive never bothered with OC. I got interested when I was a poor high school student as an upgrade but I was reminded if something breaks you cant afford to replace it so it wasnt worth it. Now my PC doesnt struggle with any games and hasnt for the 5+ years ive owned.

What are you doing with the 750Ti card once you've upgraded? I keep cooking my 470GTX. Might be interested in purchasing it off you.

My system at present:

CPU: Intel i7 950 (one of the first gen ones) 3.07GHz

Ram: 6Gb Corsair memory (cant remember the clock speed of the memory, and cant be stuffed pulling the side of the case off)

Graphics: Was Nvidia 470GTX, but having overheat issues with it, so have gone back to my old 8800GTS 640Mb. Big difference in performance...

HDDs: All WD - 2x 2Tb Reds, main windows is 1Tb Black, 750Gb Black, 320Gb Black.

DVD: Pioneer OEM DVD RW

Mobo: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R

PSU: Twin PSU Antec P190 case stock PSUs (650W for MB + cards, 550W for drives, Both Neo-Power)

Monitor: Samsung 22" 2ms

Keyboard: Stock cheapo MS multimedia keyboard (probably cost 20 bucks)

Mouse: Logitech G500 Corded Laser with a XFX Warpad mouse pad

Case: Antec P190 Twin PSU Full tower

Was a budget build when I updated from my old system, so the Monitor, DVD, 320Gb drive and keyboard were all removed from the original system. The case was bought second hand from one of my mates who was upgrading at the same time.

Cost me less than $2k 2 and a half years ago. Getting close to upgrade time again, but need to get some spare funds...

Hi guys. I want to upgrade my desktop or get a laptop so that I can watch and edit GoPro footage smoothly with no choppy playback. There will be no intention of playing games.

Currently I'm running (and yes I'm well aware it's outdated):

Intel Pentium 4 3.6Ghz

200g SSD

2TB external HD

GeForce GT640

Asus wireless network card

Asus 21.5" LCD monitor

Logitech G105 keyboard

with Windows XP 32bit

I want to spend as little as possible. Just so long as I can do the above mentioned tasks fluidly, I'll be happy.

Ok so what are my options?

Thanks.

what's your budget? I'd shy away from a laptop if you are going to be doing continous gopro editing, they can struggle a fair bit unless they are heavy spec.

Well sub $1000 but as I said, as little as possible.

Oh and I've got 4g ram (8g but XP only utilises a maximum of ~3.6.
