They look good. Do you know what the Japanese writing at the top says?

?

My Japanese is pretty rusty but I'm pretty sure those plates say 'Crazy Round-eye driving AUDM, think he JDM, you no JDM'.\

But they do look good, white on white.

Plates are the same size but mounting holes in vic ones are closer to the top of the plate than JDM original.

I had to re drill to suit the mounting holes in my Legacy number plate surrounds.

That's an option I spose. The plate hooks being covered is cleaner but it's not oem fitment I spose. Kinda torn now

Theyre really growing on me. I think its the proper white paint they have instead of the stuff on the regular plates

I had a dream last night that I was riding shotgun with my dad when a rexy with jap plates overtook us. I told my dad to speed up so I could get a better look at them. We then proceeded to get some sweet air off a bump in the road and crashed.

I wish ACT would introduce jap plates.

So today has been fun to say the lest. Went for a nice drive in the country with the girlfriend. Midway through a corner the charge light comes on and the steering got heavy. Obviously something was wrong with the belt, pulled over to find it gone.

AUQqcJ7.jpg

Guess I should have replaced it when i did the HGs. Oh well, drove the car on battery power to the nearest super cheap. Bought a new belt and a spanner as I didnt have my tools. Put the belt on in the carpark and all was well.... for about 5 minutes. 1km down the road im hearing weird noises and vibrations in the clutch pedal. Pulled straight over and the crank pulley is wobbling its tits off at idle.
lD5F99I.png

So fiddled with the tension and tried again. Got it so it was good again and set off once again. 10m down the road the same thing happens. Get out and find the belt half off the pulleys. Decided to check the crank pulley and found the bolt was now finger tight... Walked back to super cheap and bought a 22mm socket to tighten it back up. At this point Ty rang me back and told me the story of the balancer coming off his friends car from a stripped crank bolt. Fun. He said tighten it back up, remove all the belts and drive it home on battery power. Which I did. So now im at a cross roads:

  • Mexican brains trust has suggested removing the crank bolt, cleaning up the threads and locktite - ing it.
  • Fill the engine joss is parting with chemiweld and smash it in my car till boost
  • Boost

Ideally id take the 3rd option but funds are a bit short. Not by much but still short for the time being.

So that was my sunday. Good thing we didnt go up donna buang and went to the chocolate factory instead i guess  :flag_of_truce:

Helicoil is going to cost no more than 300-400 bucks

I'd do that if the lock tight doesn't work

Even that is not ideal price wise lol. *Checks auctions for smashed forester GTs and GC8 wrxs*

You sure the threads are stripped andit just wasn't torqued fully to spec(120nm or therabouts)? There was an advisory bulletin for first gens where they were just coming loose due to being undertorqued so I'd start there before fearing the worst.

Been good since February. Pretty sure I torqued it back up properly. Worst case I just have to pull the fans/radiator and have a gander
