I think it was a genuine RS that had copped a half cut of some sorts. Probably a v3 STi.
Havent got it back yet. Still waiting for it to be assessed by insurance. Starting to get annoying and will be ringing them tomorrow so ask wtf is going on

Try Famous Car Insurance. My Chev is with them and I just switched the GTB to them.
GTB insured for 16k, everything listed..
Shannons $140 per month.
Famous $60 per month.

So if your car is written off, where can I buy it?

That said, I hope it's not, all that effort!

Yeah was a bit sad but mad score on some good bits
I get salvage priority if the car is written off so comes to me m9. If it is written off itll be for economical reasons so can be reregistered and stuff. Just insurance doesnt want to deal with it basically

11/10 for Famous
I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

If Shannon's does the "economic write off" does this mean other insurance companies won't touch it?
Curious as a mate had the same thing and the only mob that did insure him wouldn't touch it after

I might have to look into this not so famous mob. Never heard of them before! Yes maybe I live under a rock...

Yeah mate I knew you wouldn't part with it if they did write it off.

Ive done some research as i started to poo myself about getting a WOVR and having to get a RWC to reregister it but apparently if the car is older than 15 years no one cares and it stays registered with no record on the WOVR, so winner there. Shannons will cancel the insurance on it if it is written off and tbh if Famous gives me a similar/cheaper quote ill switch over. Not impressed with Shannons this time

So just got off the phone to Shannons, the car was only moved to an assessor today. Not forking happy. Lodged a complaint with them and let them know it was ridiculous. Going to ring the shop where it is tomorrow and see if their open as apparently i can go and see it now. Their reasoning was that they needed a proper mechanic to look at it rather than a smash shop, why a smash shop was fine last time i dont know.
Did an online quote with Famous and got the same price with more agreed value and mods included so if I can confirm that with someone on the phone Ill be switching to them once this is done

Finally got to see my car
All panels and everything are fine
Clutch is forked potentially, just slips however could be cos of the next item VVV
Broken rear drive shaft
Locks are rooted
No dak daks from the engine and box still seems to have all its gears so thats a win. Still waiting for the inspection but thats what i was able to find with the mechanics

DriveShaftShop 800hp shafts on order
How's the rear diff? Worth checking the oil for gear chunks?

Worth a look for sure. If it gets written off ill be pulling the box to inspect it all. Thinking ill replace the box as well. Its ok for now but who knows what could happen. Would rather spend $1000 than have something go bang on HVC. Will check the diff out at the same time as well

Swap back in the unknown gearbox after HVC16 and see if it shits itself on daily driving duties?
Your pero's said anything about this?

Gotta love driveway work. I once used an under ground carpark for an electric window install when it was raining

True story!

Rang shannons to get an updated, seems to be the best way to get them moving. Mechanical inspection was done yesterday (first time something has been done when they said itd be done) same news as when i saw it
Broken drive shaft
Burnt out clutch (who knows if thats really what it is)
Damage to the brakes (how even)
Waiting for the quote to fix comes through. Still hoping for a write off
