Geez it's amazing how much they wonder on the dyno!
I've never had one done before so I always find it interesting...
Your car looks mint with the wheels rotating too
Cheers

Things are afoot. Now that i have money and more importantly consistent money i can get some mods going again. With my first paycheck being particularly large due to how my work does it pay cycle i yolo'd and bought an ARC airbox. The rarer kind that suits an STi rather than a GTB so no random mount for the aids box. The filter is a bit forked but ill sort something out
Ive been wanting a set of headers for a while now because of reasons and shiny. Originally I was thinking of doing a twin scroll setup if i was going to all the effort of changing manifolds and up pipe whats another $300 for a rear housing. However a set of PSR EL headers had been for sale since december for a killer price that and amazingly was still available and I wasnt sure if i was just after the noise of TS or the performance as well. I couldnt argue with the price and being able to slap a TD04 if my 23 goes bang was a bit of a deal breaker, so I told the owner id buy them on payday.
While the up pipe is out Ill put in the 2.7 STi rack from Joss' donor and put in the proper turbo power steering lines. Not sure if ill pull the engine to do that one. Might be worth the extra hour ish to make everything that much easier. Will change some seals and give it all a look over at the same time as well. Would also make changing the sump to suit the headers a piece of piss. Will depend where i am at the time as i hope to be moving out in a few weeks with the misses and some friends
Id very much like to have all this done by HVC but who knows. It might all get put into the shed under a tarp

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Not a fan of equal length? Neither was I until I heard robs car in person. They scream at the top end but still have some rumble to them. Was converted after thatWell that'll drop the beat... Just not in a good way IMO!

Finally got some shed time to spin some spanners on the shit box.
Got the new 3" catback in with some tip adjustment with the makita lowering kit. Chopped 10cm ish off the tip where it had been lengehted for adams wagoon then bolted the cubt right in, like a bought one
Also finally got to unbox my new headers
Theyre a sexy bit of kit. They wont be on for a while. Need to get the half moon sump to clear them and shit

You need to put those headers in a fire for an hour to get them to match the rest of the system lol
Get them remade in pig iron for added effect. I though about cleaning up the diffback which is stainless but ive got a big veilside muffler to go on one day which ill make schmick.

Since I did the conversion the car has always run pretty rough on start up. The idle hunts, the afr swings wildly, drops cylinders then gets them back a few seconds later. All sorts of bad stuff. Combined with the rich boost clearly there was something leaking. Ive always suspected my intake manifold gaskets as i had a hard time getting the manifold back on and most likely pinched/tore one. So i set aside yesterday to change them.
While i was in there (as usual) I decided to put in a catch can and delete the big off metal hardline that loops over the turbo inlet for the head breathers. Doing so cleaned up the turbo inlet area 100 fold and everything is reachable and nothing touches unlike before. I cut the hardline short as its welded to the same bracket as the bov return. I also tidied up the loom and cable tied it into a more factory location tucked between the hard pipes and the manifold rather than sort of floating around
And I kept the T piece section to use later as a joiner for the head breathers into the can.
I also swapped out my AC compressor as mine was seized. Having 0 ancilleries on the front of the engine made putting the manifold on a dream as i just went straight in and slid the inlet over the turbo rather than having to angle shit over the AC and PS pump. Manifold went on 100000000000000x nicer this time.
After about 5 more hours of fiddling, dodging storms and reassembly it looks like this
The hose is poo, i know. Its the only stuff i could find that was oil tolerant (not oil safe :\) in the right size. Im not 100% on the routing either but there really isnt much room in the bay, I had to remove my charcoal canister (which has been floating around unplumbed as it turns out for who knows how long with no ill effect). Ideally itd go on the other side and id be able to go behind the ancillaries but there is 0 space to put one.
Oh and i also remove the PCS and used its vacuum nipple for my boost gauge. No more T piece with fish tank hose.
Unfortunately this didnt fix my rich on boost issue. So ive basically ruled out a boost leak in my mind. Might try a different ecu or just smash my PFC in and tune it. However the car idles wayyyyyyyyy better. No more hunting and no more afr swings. So not all bad

ft. Joss doing mad Supercheap runs
Anyway, torqued to spec is just the manuals way of saying 'we couldn't get it any tighter, see if you can'.
