Haha wanna buy UEL's and rear swaybar first ;) Might just makita job the front springs so it roughly matches the back.

I cut the front springs in my wagon for shits and giggles, don't do it, they fall out.
Just get some Gen 1 UEL headers from a wreckers, my local wreckers are selling them for $40.

Haha i don't want to chop that much out, not even half a coil probably. If turns to poo though, ill just boy some King Lows or equivalents. $40 bucks for headers! Thats awesome. The two or three wreckers around my joint don't really have any Subaru's, let alone Gen 1 Liberty's :( The closest one that specialists is Subaru's is about 40 mins away :( Might be something to do this weekend :)

In other news i spilt coffee in my car for the second time and after a half ass attempted to clean it out it smells like vomit in my car haha Even the strong car smelly thing can't cover it :( So hopefully decent weather on Saturday so i can hire a steam cleaner and give the interior a beautiful clean :D

Also got a funny vibrating noise when i turn the wheel :( Sounds like power steering pump fluttering :S Car has 160,000 on it. Is it a common things on Suby's?

Hahah, only thing i changed was i added an extra rubber joiner so i could get a better angle. Not sure if wagons have a wider engine bay buy your looked like it fitted better than mine did. Going to add a hose from the inner guard to the unused spot int the 'Y' piece and see if it sounds better than before :D

looks great man, love what you have done with it :)

Thanks mate! Hopefully she progresses to something nice along the next few years i own her :D

So, what gives your exhaust that sound?

Just the exhaust mod itself? :/

how much did it set you back?

Intalled w/ tip was $320, everwhere was about the same when i was looking around :)

Another small update...

Over the weekend i managed to pull all my seats out and centre console, hire a Rug Doctor and steam clean my car!!!! Pulled apart all the centre trims and cleaned them and all under the carpets, hand brake assembly etc. Safe to say the Off Milk/ Vommitt smell is almost all gone! I'm guessing the seat foam and headliner have absorbed some of the smell so hopfully after some hot days and airing out it will dissapear :D

I think the vibration/ noise is a knacked Steering Rack. It isn't speed dependant and only makes the noise when loaded up I.E parking (slight drysteering) or taking corners aggressivly. Hope fully just some seals and/or bushes and she's aaall sweet again :) Going to track down some Gen 1 headers this weekend hopefully.

Hi everyone,

Had the car in the mechanics yesterday for the vibration/ fluttering steering problem which is now sort of fixed... Had the power steering flushes 2-3 times as old oil was 'putrid' which is a surprise as Subaru was meant of done a change only a couple weeks before i bought the beast (138,500 Km, Now at 160,000) Anyways, the steering has improved HEAPS! Soooo much smoother and a lot quieter. So on the way home on the few turns i knew i could get the steering to flutter i sussed out the result. It now is less frequent but just as i was nearing my house, i went around a round about (Ringwood North 7/11 for East Melbourne members) which has an appalling surface and back came the fluttering :( Has anyone has these issues before? Or have any idea what it could be? Mechanic tightened everything steering related so shouldn't be anything loose?

Secondly, my front sway bar link bushes are rooted so time for an upgrade :) I'm looking to stay with the OEM 21mm Front bar, so was planning on getting this white line kit and bushes.
http://www.whiteline...t_number=KLC20A
http://www.whiteline...number=W0405-21

Will the link assembly be fine? Or should i get the beefed up one? Keep in mind its not really going to be seeing the track that much.

Next on the list was upgrading the rear sway bar to a 17mm sway bar from a B4. I got the idea from RX25SE's super old post: http://www.subyclub....on-a-geniii-rx/
Only problem is that white line don't make a 17mm Bush to suit :( So am i better of just finding a decent second hand 20mm White line Bar? Only reason i was going B4 was because i didn't want to fork out $265 for a 20mm one.

And lastly... Spotted these Steering rack and pinion bush kit in the white line catalog and was just wondering if they are worth it? Do they provide $43 of improvement (Kinda cheap so was just going to bite the bullet and suss them out)

Sorry for the long post, but rather than starting another thread i thought I'd just use my thread :) Thanks for the assistance people!

Rebuild of the power steering pump? The o-rings turn brittle and let air into the system

Links dont work dude...but you just need the dolid whiteline ones? Theyre gold alloy and are pretty identical in look to the stockies

Cant you get stock B4 bushes? Or superpro replacements for a B4?

Yes the steering rack bushes make a difference on an older worn out car, not massive..just tighter reslly..i think superpro are cheaper aswell and are pretty much identical as far as im concerned....their control arm bushes i steer away from as ive only ever had trouble with them

Hope that helps?

Cheers Matt, your help is appreciated. I'll have to contact the mechanic on Monday and sort it out. Lucky he is a family friend so servicing etc is a good price.

Damn! $170 compared to $95 haha. I had read through a couple of the threads in the Suspension section and i had a feeling that the Heavy Duty's where the only option.

Didn't think about Super Pro. Yep i can order a bush from them :) So i guess all i need now is to track down a B4 rear sway bar. Should i bother upgrading the rear links for that as well?

If anyone has one that they don't mind posting from interstate (I can pick up for Melbourne members) i am down to make a purchase ;)

If i could see a pic of both links i could tell you if theyre ok?

Good idea to replace the links as they flog out over time, i used roadsafe universal ball endlinks from bursons, just cut to size and fit up...lasted me like 4 years so far with no issue...theyre fairly cheap

If i get time after work this week ill quickly jack it up and give you a geez haha Thanks for the help Matt, I've just read through your Gen 3 thread.... fapfapfapfap. What are these under drive pulleys you speak of? Less rotating mass = better torque/response in the lower RPM's?

Yeah I think jovi is wrecking a B4

Messaged Jovi, thanks for the heads up guys :)

Will try ringing another wrecker found out about today tomorrow. Hopefully they can help me out. Other wise it will have to be a cheap second hand 20mm bar.

B4 bars 21mm are they?? there ya go, ya learn something new everyday....ive still got my B4 bar sitting outside, gotta get rid of it one day

Yep theyre a lightweight crank and alternator pulley that are a slightly underiven to the alternator...so less load on the engine and less rotating mass yeah

It did make a difference to throttle response, well enough that i noticed it anyways.....still got my old ones sitting here for someone to buy one day lol...just need a suitable belt to fit them (needs a slightly smaller belt) as i forgot to grab my belt :(

Haha sorry to confuse! Just got a standard RX bar on the front, which is 21mm and RX rear is 14mm, which makes sense why it has an under steer fetish haha :D B4 bars are 20 (F) and 17 ® ?

Well, if you wish to get rid of them for a price i can afford, i'll probably throw some dollhairs at ya for them. If you can tell me what size belt i need, ill get on that :D

I'll also try and get a video of this power steering issue, if i can find something that will pick up the noise.
