So got stuck in.....again!....to the old girl today, and was determined to do the 6 speed swap by myself

Decided to try put it in the opposite of how ive taken the 5 speeds out, through the engine bay with a engine crane, a jack and some ratchet straps used strategically

Was soooo damn easy! At one point it hit on the sub frame and on the firewall and I was like....oh fork!...but lowering the jack a bit and putting more angle on the box it just slipped right in. Not once did I have to manhandle anything as the crane and jack did it all

Nearly forgot to put the rear shifter bushing in aswell lol...but all fixed now :)

So the (huge) 6 speed is now bolted in and ready to knock the old front axles out and put the new ones in tomorrow

Gave myself the mission to strip the dash and loom out this week and get it sent to amauto for splicing before xmas as I had a big chat with Al yesterday and he was happy to fit it in

So happy to see this much progress finally happening to the rs as for a while there things were way too quiet thanks to work etc etc

So its time for a bit of boozing and sitting in front of the tv now

Till 2moro!!

I really dont know why people dont do boxes this way when the engines out.....everyone still persisted to manhandle it alone under the car? But I barely broke a sweat doing it this way....and never once had to lift any weight at all

Another day...another few things done

Pulled the old front shafts and fitted the new ones for the 6 speed, connected up and fitted the 6 speed shifter and all is working gewd!

Disconnected all the wiring in the engine bay and have it ready to pull through the firewall any day now, and had the fun (not) job of removing the dash and starting to take the loom out of the rs....omg what a mindfuk!! Was a nightmare to remove and the wiring was a nightmare under it all lol

Spent an hour stripping the boost gauge, avcr boost control and turbo timer out of the loom to make it less of a bob marley style hair doo....but it only looks marginally better hahaha.....I feel sorry for Al with this one

But in saying that...I cant wait to get the nice fresh loom back all spliced up as it will look 1 million times better than this shamozzle!!

So tomorrows jobs aside from a few deliveries are to remove the loom, swap clutch master and slave cylinders over for the 6 speed stuff and fit the driveshaft which will completw the drivetrain swap :)

Heaps to do still...but im starting to see a light lol

Yeah removing the dash is a PITA especially trying to unscrew the loom attached to the back of it.

Another day...another couple bits off the list

Got the tailshaft in fully and all bolted in...so the driveline is now full complete :D

Put the wrx offset clutch master and the slave that came with the 6 speed (pretty sure theyre all the same anyways) on and put a braided line on to the slave...will chuck some fluid in later and attempt a bleed

Put the waaayyyyy bigger GD STi brake booster on...was an effort..but im pretty sure if the size is anything to go by itll make a difference...was able to use the stock rs vacuum line with a slight adjustment to the soft hose..cheering...now to do a bleed on the brakes soonish with some 5.1 fluid

Also got sick of working with the smell of fuel in the bay so I plugged up the fuel lines and pissed the coke zero bottle off lol

And finally got the foz STi steering pump and lines off and put the GD lines on...just need a slight bend down at the rack to fit the clamp back on

So another successful day...but was super busy sending off packages and buying presents...so not tonnes done today

But progress is progress none the less!
