What size did ya go?

550 CCA 12Ah 1.4kg 160 X 90 X 165mm

Now just have to wait for them to get back to me with the paypal invoice.

Did you test mount the front bar on after you bolted the FMIC on, it looks like it is hanging a bit low

Only up to the louvers....its your typical fmic they put on all rs's and is like 1mm off hitting the bottom of the grille.....it sits juat off flush with the bottom of the bar....a couple mm higer than the rad support

Its the big huge brackets someone put on that hang down another 5mm.....ill fix that later on though as I dont like it....but it can wait

Ill probably throw a tube and fin cooler on it in the same dimensions as theyre a much more efficient (and lighter) cooler

Had a hell of a time trying to sort out the accelerator cable since the engine went in.....thought it would all fit with the stock cable on the GD throttle body....but when I tried it the threaded secition was nowhere near fitting...which sucked lol

So I tried the GD cable after Rob brought it back over for me as I sold him the gd pedals....to only find out the cable in the rs is anchored off the firewall....not the pedal box like the newer stuff

WTF?!

Then I noticed the cruise cable mount sits a fair bit closer to the throttle linkage...hmmmm

So with a grinder in hand and no need for cruise control anymore I chopped the mount in half and used the mount for the cruise cable in the accelerator spot.....worked a fricken treat!!! Perfect fitment and no screwing around with changing cables etc...happy days!!!

20150103_180330.jpg

See fits like a dream...even used the pulley cover bolt hole for a cable mount ;)
20150103_180302.jpg

Scored a full set of the newer (much easier to undo) bumper clips whilst at the wreckers aswell for the front end...its all these small things that make the car that tiny bit better :))

20150103_175948.jpg
Also chucked the STi strut brace on to get it off my shelf...th ends will be powdercoated with all the rest of the stuff in one hit later on and ill get rid of the overspray on the carbon that someone so nicely done lol

Spent half an hour on the beast today

Noticed that the washer reservior was in the way of the cold fmic pipework as they now have to sit further out compared to on the old engine

Figured id just heat up the bottle with a heat gun and mould a groove to fit the pipework in..and while this did work..it really didnt look all that pretty lol..and was still kinda tight

So I figured id sort something else out....I have a 1.2l reservior off my 4x4 that came with the snorkel that I never used. I was gonna put it in the boot...but atm I couldnt be bothered running a line and some wires down the back...maybe later down the track

I then noticed now I have the cruise and ac bits removed I have a nice spot up against the firewall on the passenger side rail next to where I relocated the charcoal cannister....and low and behold it fit perfectly lol

Trimmed the angle mounts of the bottles holder and chucked a few holes in it and drilled some in the chassis rail and tapped them to suut some M8 bolts

All I had to do was re route the water line...and cut the the wiring as ill run a two core cable back alo g the passenger aide gaurd with the loom, back into the car and poke it out the old ac pipework grommet right next to the pump

Should only leave a couple inches of wire and otherwise look fairly neat and tucked away

Needs a clean...the bracket will get powdercoated with all the rest of the stuff after its all running..and a cable tie goes around the middle to tie it up against the bases back plate

Few little things off the list the past two days

Modded the alternator wiring of my RS to suit the new alternator off the wrx...pretty simple after a chat with Al...had to open up the main power lugs to the alternator from 6mm to 8mm and re-taped it all

Also started playing around with the boost solenoid bracket to suit my new peirburg 3 port and the extra plugs off the GD loom...pretty much just cutting the plate that holds the plugs off the GD bracket and bolting it to the RS bracket...once again will be powdercoated later on to look all tidy and stuff ;) photos once im half happy with it

Also did a bit of an order today...my 6 speed was missing the clutch fork spring, the main breather tube on the bell housing and the exhaust bracket for the dump.....also my purge solenoid line to the manifold had been cut super short putting strain on the fragile solenoid nipple....so ordered all those parts

Also ordered a VP v8 commo IAT sensor to put into the fmic pipes to get a more effective air temp reading like I did in the gen3...this will go just before the throttle body...and ive just gotta pull some wires outta the AFM plug and re-run them back to the new sensor

Now to run a two core cable I got from jaycar for the new washer bottle position

Pics later on :)
