Matt, just a quick question regarding your BC coilover rear damper extenders. There is an option for either 100mm or 200mm lengths. Is one too long and the other too short? Thanks.

Its the 200mm ones you need mate....mines cut to like 140mm or so

So after some searching around i found no issues at all with any connections in the fueling circuit

But the pump was suffering low voltages due to voltage drop

Getting a 0.4v drop just at rest with the car off

About 10.4v when priming (12.22 at battery)

And about 13.2v whilst idling at 7.8A (14.41 at battery)

After lots of research i found that its an issue with the fuel pump controllers dropping voltage....bigger wires help (i already have these) but arent the full fix

Enter the dedicated positive feed straight off the battery

Wanted 10 gauge (6mm2) but could only source 8 gauge (8mm2) meh..the more the merrier lol

Ran a 3.6m feed from the battery to the pump area....that went into a 40A relay and then to the pump

The relay was switched by the original pumps positive from the controller to the pump and then to ground

So the ground between the pump and the controller is still oem but is a much bigger wire the whole way

I also added a 10 gauge cable to the chassis in addition on to the fuel pump controllers ground to give it a better chance

after all this i was getting a 0.01v drop at rest

On prime the volts went from 12.2 to 11.9v

When idling im getting 14.31v...with 14.41 at the battery

And the pump now only pulls 6.1A at idle compared to 7.8A earlier

So at idle i get a 0.1v drop the whole time

yet to give it a drive to see what it does..but can only be better :)

Was gonna tuck it all in to the boot...but found a nice secure and well hidden spot to mount it on the way

Should be big enough?

Fit pretty neat...all well protected
20150728_162731.jpg
20150728_162720.jpg
all hidden
20150728_164659.jpg

new idle voltage
20150728_163245.jpg

so all in all a big win i reckon...seems to want to kick over better aswell.
But still take 4 or 5 goes due to the e85 lol

Fingers crossed thats sorted it mate

Yep should be as it seems like its almost dropping 1.5v to 2v when loaded

They say 1v drop is approx 50L/hr loss at the pump...as the pump wants 13.5v

But....since im well over this issue

Im still installing the walbro 460L to cover my ass....will be ready for an upgrade in the future to a 20g turbo :)

Should provide tonnes of fuel!!

Also....

In light of the mucho bigger 460L fuel pump going in tomorrow...i needed to delete my OEM fpr as it gets over run with the bigger pump and typically doesnt keep up

So a trip to pro speed straight after the tune saw me grab the new walbro, a fitting kit, a fpr delete plate and a tomei adjustable fuel pressure reg to get rid of the temporary tomioka one mick installed on the dyno (much better quality)

The tomioka reg was leaking when i left msr due to little to no thread sealant...so i fixed that with some 3 bond 1215 on all the thread and let it cure for 24hrs

Did the same for the 90 degree barb on the fpr delete plate

Then pulled it all down to swap the reg for the delete plate, and properly mount the new adjustable regulator

The reg will be swapped when i go to micks next so he can set the base pressure how he wants (4 bar i think it was)

Delete plate was a bitch to install lol...needed to trim about 5mm off the barb to ensure it didnt kink the hose...fts perfect now :)
20150728_174229.jpg

regulator is mounted on the chassis rail...fairly hidden...and will be more so once the catch can gets installed over it
20150728_174239.jpg

teed into the BOV vac line for the new reg...as mick says if the line fails it'll never seal the BOV and will stop the engine boosting....ie for safety ;)
used a steel t piece...and will swap the white ties for black ones asap ;)

New E85 proof walbro 460 pump...its huge!

Fancy regulator to be installed

I just love that you always overproof things mate :)

No corners cut.

im sure it'll be a hoot once its all ironed out, this is pretty much my build in the future but different shell, so it will no doubt be handy in the future, along with being an enjoyable read.

Haha yep im not a fan of Half arsing stuff lol

And sometimes my OCD just says go overboard hahaha

If i wanted it even better i could yake the bigger cable right to the fuel pump lid...but i think the extra foot should be ok in the oem wiring

Wow, I was going to ask whether you've checked the controller, but thought that I'd better not give you bad ideas. Good to hear it's sorted though.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

Haha yep...its nothing wrong with the controller though

Just the inherent issue with that type of switching

More tidy up today

Whilst im waiting for the water to get turned back on at the house (major inconvenience lol), i thought id fix up something that ive been meaning to do since the swap

With the resin Cosworth TGV deletes i installed, i obviously lost all connection to the chassis ground for the intake

This is an issue as all the ECU grounds go to the intake!

I had a temporary set up with a set of paralleled wires going from the intake to the alternator bracket which is bolted to the block

Now this works absolutely fine, but looked shite and probably wasn't the absolute best set up

Now I could have just bolted the earths straight to the block, but the OEM wiring is formed to fit the intake...so I just left them where they're supposed to be

With a fair bit of spare 10 and 8 gauge wiring handy, and some heavy duty crimp lugs i decided to do it properly

Piss easy job....just a 10mm hole lug one end, and an 8mm hole lug on the other end

Pre tin the cable ends, crimp new lugs on, properly solder lugs to cable, add heatshrink and bolt to engine

Done..you can see it going from the ground wires on the intake to the alternator bracket
20150729_105230.jpg

and this was the old wiring next to the new stuff...crappy and small vs big and properly done......ie overkill lol
