Winning!

Clutch sounds like a day job to me, unless you’re getting the flywheel shaved - not always needed! If you want to go this way you could get a second flywheel, have it shaved and ready to drop in with the fresh clutch to keep the vehicle down time to a minimum.

Cheers

Dont want to be going back in there a second time on a turbo car let alone TT. Defs machine the flywheel. 0 clutch warranty without that as well

Nice acquisition! Yea, 16's are a small wheel for most things 5x100, so they generally get left alone and can be gotten fairly cheap.

Be good to see a pic of these once they're on!

Cheers,
Ben

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

Nice rims Duncan,

No want for 16" rims cause they dont fit over the big brake kits.

I've personally never felt a real difference going from stock to HD clutch

Neither did I when I ran the 5sp, Both pretty light.

The 6sp Exedy HD is a good leg workout

Fat tyres are fat. Not convinced on the confusing array of colours.

Yea, that does look good! With you on the colour thing though. Maybe a respray of silver on the wheels is on the cards? Photoshop is your friend.

Cheers,
Ben

I 100% agree, silver / grey would look great, sort of match the side trims.

Id look at a darker shade of the silver side trims. I reckon colour matching to the side panels would look too matchy-matchy, but I could be wrong

On the rear it looks like the wheels stick a tiny bit outside to the guard, or very close to it, but the fronts are tucked in. Whats happening there?

What happened to the silver rims that you posted about with the late night clickage? Were they actually that gold colour?

Cheers

same rims -- just different lighting. Late night clikkage photo was under LED strip lights at the office.

The car plastics are a faint gold, wheels are a much more saturated colour.

I'm tossing up between colour matching the trims to body colour (dark green all round), or making them satin black / raw plastic.

Time for photoshopping.

Poke is almost stock - 1/4" extra width on the rims, minus 3mm of offset (45 to 48). Nothing to speak of.

Stock offset is +55, but the extra width will almost perfectly hide that change.
I'd be going full body colour in the green. Then the wheels wouldn't need painting at all.
But.
Painting the car is a hell of a lot dearer than painting wheels.

Cheers,
Ben

Just checked - stock outbag offset is 48 (per the rim markings). New rims were also supposedly 48 (not marked, but a ruler check says that's about right), so its only the 1/4" difference (~6mm more poke).

Darker panels definitely look better, colour-matched a bit shit - bad photoshop:

Hey Ben,

Not on an Outback, they run +48 as standard. Liberty/Legacy run +55

There ya go. Makes sense considering the extra body width I guess.

Colour match it all green imo. The all white outbacks look pretty slick imo. Green would look good

Back in the day there was an outback with colour matched wheels to the trim. Looked sweet imo

I came down with a man flu on Friday -- what to do when quarantining oneself at home for three days?

I finally got around to putting the exedy HD clutch in, plus new engine mounts (they were shagged).

Found more broken shit - as one does - the trans mount has split into two pieces, so a group-N is on order.. and the recent new whine in the gearbox may be the input bearing. Shaft seems to have a bit of play.

Flu certainly slowed things down - I was shuffling around and grunting like an old man.

Group-N mount installed this evening after work -- everything feels tighter, which is not a surprise.

Bit of a bastard to do with the twin exhaust in place - have to disassemble the subframe and unbolt from the body in-situ, then remove piece by piece.
