Ive always had a secret love for the old gen1 since watching the videos of mcrae tearing around in them
Such an iconic car i reckon....and they really deserve a second chance, and this one was in desperate need of one
Main thing is puts a stupid smile on my face

And after a good run and the trip to MSR one started leaking though the outer seal! Pissed me off no end so i thought im nipping this in the butt once and for all and after much searching with my local suby parts guy we found a set to fit! And also got a cv band tool to ensure they dont leak and stay the fork on there!!
So pulled them fully apart this time, complete cleaned and inspected and put the new boots on....oem fit ftw!!
Just gotta chuck them back in tomorrow and tighten everything back up and shes good to go

Hopefully these are the last boots i do in a while!!!
Though the new r180 shafts are coming lol....may do them while theyre out of the car hahahaha

Got sick of the strut top covers that were unable to fit as there was not enough thread for them to grab on to, the strut brace mounts are a touch thicker than aftermarket ones and it seems the struts studs are a bit short
But after half an hour with the grinder taking off about 3 or so mm off the mounts and a touch off the head of the nuts its all good

Glad theyre finally on the car doing what they're supposed to, and not in a box on the shelf lol

looking at the bay now im keen to start blacking more stuff out, radiator is next up when i dump the coolant after hvc

Was awesome...bit slow at times, but omg this car hammers and i cant even hit wide open throttle yet due to a cel from the maf and the lack of a power tune, so much get up and go and makes awesome flutterz and stuff

Was good to try to gain a bit of confidence in the car and start to get used everything
And at the end of it all we had awesome burgers and a good catch up...not many pics but mark took the few shown below
After the run and throwing another 220ish km on the tune it gave me about 13.7km/100km which for e85 and a bit of fooling around is pretty damn good!! Used exactly 30L of fuel on the round trip
Wollombi pitstop (way too much coffee and mother for that time of the day lol)

awesome burgers!

and saying their goodbyes for the time being

so pretty damn happy with the old beast...went flawlessly aside from the known maf issue and a not so confident/nervous driver behind the wheel lol

Cheers bru...needs a bit of tweaking and stuff but it goes well for an old ladySuch a well set up car
So flat around the corners

That gen2 is something else though! Always blows me away at how good it is in the corners!

Considering all I've done is sway bars, coilovers and replaced some bushes, it handles amazingly well
More suspension mods to come yet

Bit grubby and in need of some love!!
Will wire wheel it all and spray it all black, pull the shafts down and clean/regrease them, pull the rear and sides off the diff and reseal it all, hubs need the dust covers removed as theyre a tad bent and the handbrake bits need a tidy up and rebuild all ready for install

I forgot how fricken big this diffs are! They are massive compared to an r160!!!
Lots of fun right here!
