10K out of pocket is epic considering the gear it has in it mate, tbh only needs a cage to be a full race car.

As many have said well done and hopefully you can give it a good belting on the track/hillclimb soon as its build well for that sort of thing :)

Cheers mate! A lot of right place, right time stuff in this car

Also i had a lot of spares and left over parts from the gen3 that were never installed

So they either went in the car, or were sold with the rest of the stuff lol

Id love a bolt in half cage that i could install/remove for events

Scored a cheap as chips bugeye STi handbrake lever with the sexy red stitching recently...wanted it as the RS lever is flimsy as fork when pulled hard and of course has no red stitching lol

Piss easy to install....just needed the front hole elongated approx 5mm to line it up properly, and a bit of wiring changes as my RS park brake switch wouldnt fit it...so i just cut and crimped on to the STi switch

The new lever is heaps more solid, but to make sure it was as stiff as i can get it i added a big washer to spread the load over the front bolt bracket....worked wonders!

Dremel to the rescue!!
20150817_094629.jpg

Mmm red stitching to go with my other bits
20150817_094638.jpg

Huge washer to spread the load
20150817_102306.jpg

Small wiring changes needed
20150817_102315.jpg

And done...feels stiff as fork now
20150817_120802.jpg

Also i scored the final bits i needed for the V7 alloy STi shifter surround

Took some forking around, but the dremel and some patience made it easy as

The surround wouldnt sit flush with the panel as its not as curved as the STi one, but i added some small screws to pull the two together...came out tops!!
Also needed to hack a bit off the lower panel to clear everything...but after all that it looks so much better than the ribbed RS boot :)

Bit of cutting and it fit a treat, gold screws are pulling the surround tight to the panel
20150817_120230.jpg

More cutting
20150817_115706.jpg

Sits fairly flush now :)

Let the fapping begin!!!

Ive got a Redline shift boot coming atm with red stitching aswell just to top it all off ;)

Thanks for watching!

Just noticed your DCCD controls are where I'm intending to run in future. How are they to actually use there?

Yeah theyre fine.....not as if you use them when yure giving it some anyways

But even if you were theyre within easy reach and are easy to see

I had them in much the same spot in the gen3 and no issues

My, that's a huge washer you have there....

WTF is the black box with the white cable glued to the floor used for?

Yaw/pitch sensor? Radio function actuator? Turboencabulator? Flux capacitor?

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

All the better to support....stuff....with :)

Its the G sensor for the DCCDpro controller Jas, get attached to the body facing forward...and the best way to attach it is 24hr epoxy/araldite

Small photo update

Big thanks to Adrian (Reevesy) for selling me a 9k tacho cluster for a great price :)

Once i saw Miguels i was uber jealous and had to have one lol

Took it out of the old cluster this arvo...very easy to remove!

And willbe going back in tomorrow...possibly with another rev related item ;)

Now the tacho will match the engine mucho better

Built for 2L revs :D nothing better than driving a car that makes power in the top end.

9k tacho installed....so easy...took all of 10mins

20150821_165331.jpg

Works a treat :)

Im planning to do my first hillclimb in a month or so and many more afterwards...so decided to start getting some safety gear so that im protected a lot more...gotta take care of #1

Decided i needed to get a harness with ASM (anti submarining technology) which stops you from slipping out the bottom of a 4 point harness in a crash

Ended up with a Shcroth 4 point Clubman Saloon ASM II in black ofcourse...it is a clip in which allows me to swap 4 seat belt bolts for hi tensile eyebolts

This allows me to remove the harness with just a few clips as the eyebolts stay in all the time

20150821_155113.jpg
20150821_155149.jpg

And the mounting points

20150821_155141.jpg
20150821_155157.jpg
20150821_155203.jpg

All bolts were cut to the same length as OEM and loctited in to be safe :)

And after deciding i dont like my full face helmet in the car...i looked in to a good but cheap open face helmet...and in doing so was getting more and more convinced that a HANS device is a very valuable investment...particularly after watching this relatively slow crash

http://jalopnik.com/...rash-1532535262

And the beauty is theyre now heaps cheaper than a few years back ;)...heaps cheaper lol...whilst $500 may seem a lot....i think its well worth it for the extra protection offered

Revolution Race Gear had a sweet sale package of a Racelid Jet open face helmet (bell mag7 copy) and a sport 2 HANS device with the required posts

20150821_160025.jpg

Such a good deal, and even better when i got the harness...and just wearing it all in the car you can tell how much more protected the neck is from damage

Safety first people ;)

Mad install!

Also can't get over how much of a difference the HANS device makes..
