I might have some spare bits and pieces for you if required. Might be a bit easier now I'm in the Roach State.

Hello from the US!  I am rkrenicki from the Subaru Legacy International forum, where I have been working with the Black Faced Meters (aka Blackout cluster) for the better part of 2 years now.   I am the author of the thread here with all of the pinout information for both types:  http://sl-i.net/FORU...php?f=8&t=25730

I have done this conversion, and it worked great!  I had every electrical function working 100% for my car, but the physical fitment was a bit of a problem.. and I decided to revert back to the original BG cluster.

I have a few pictures of the process, but not a whole lot of them..  Here is the BFM with long pigtails and the BG wiring diagram for reference..

It lives!

+1. The RS30 conversion thread would nicely compliment Cams GT30 thread

Oh, hah!  I did not notice that it was you Barbbachello!  That is what I get for posting without reading the whole thread.   Jimbo had PMed me over on SL-i and told me that people were looking at doing this.

I may copy-and-paste my build thread over here when I have a little more time.  Last time I did that it took me about an hour due to the number of posts in the SL-i thread I have going...

I think my cluster might have bought the farm as it doesnt turn on when connecting power to the associated pins.  :dash2:

Never mind. I dun goofed hard and had read the pins backwards. The cluster doesnt like it when you only give it power for the dials. It flashes in an OH GOD WHERES THE CAR manner  one of the grounds wasn't perfect. Fixed that up. Works perfectly. Now to double check the rest of my pins :| but PROGRESS

Id say blinky bill is a result of bad ground[s]. I hope to start wiring something this weekend

After yesterdays derping I went back and rechecked all my pins. Moved a few around and then figured out how to make more lights come on which doubled as checking my pinout was accurate.

Start to wire it into the car today! Have got it turning on and the check engine light working. Was about to have a look at the tacho wiring but battery was too flat from music and turning the car on and off a lot lol.
