Found something interesting. I hooked up the clusters constant 12v to the cars constant 12v and the fans and other things turned on. Seeing as im guessing the constant 12v is for the clock/some kind of internal memory I might just leave it out. Other than power, ground and check engine nothing else works so far lol

There are heaps of constant power in points on the Gen 3 cluster. One of them goes to the memory for your trip computer, you need to get that connected.

There are 2. I barely use my trip computer so will get the rest working first. Am I right in saying the gen 3 has a button or something to reset it as theres no stalk and theres a pin for odo reset

Gen three uses the stalk that comes out the dash face to alternate between the 2 trip meters, and holding it down for a few seconds will reset whichever trip meter you have up at the time.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

Now we're getting somewhere! Tacho and fuel gauge are working nicely. Something ive noticed is when you turn the car from on to start the cluster restarts its light up sequence. Im assuming its due to the lack of constant 12v. I wired up the handbrake light but doesnt seem to work so will have to look further into that

At this stage id consider it serviceable. Its in there and the tinted cover is on. The shroud actually somewhat fits and with some trimming should be ok. Will probably need a new B plug as the temp gauge feed broke off at the pin :\. Few gremlins/misunderstanding with the handbrake and seat belt lights not coming on/turning off when they should/at all

Heres a bigger photo so you can see it better. Its not quite as bright as id like but i think thats due to there being no brightness control and its on default. Its 10/10 even lighting though

I hope to get the speedo working tomorrow. My current dilemma is how to wire up this board thing. Ive got this diagram that shows what needs to be done

GBtAc7h.jpg

but securing the wires to the board has me a bit stumped. At the moment im thinking screw through a ring terminal and then "glue"/chook poo it on with solder

Could you just pop rivet? I dunno if that would be too strong though.
