Parts pile is getting smaller. All the pumps and belt driven stuff is back on the front of the engine. and maybe 1/3 of the plugs are back in. Exhaust is all connected as is the clutch the gear bag is now securely bolted together. Also did some shopping and picked up a new radiator as ive been suspect of the old one and it couldnt hurt. Also pinched a few bolts and nuts that ive miss placed lol.

Jollys 4 the rad ??
Good progress Nicko,
yep. Checked out the wrx they have. Full cream interior with buckets etc in pretty good condition still there. Rest of it isnt even a rolling shell. rack is in the boot as is the front hubs. Front end has been cut up as well. Plenty of gen 2 outbacks for bits though

Huge day today. Put the manifold and got rid of the parts pile in the boot, flushed the radiator and changed the oil.
Cranked her over with no plugs to build some oil pressure. Then cranked it with the plugs. Fired straight up! No ticks, no knocks, smooth idle. Winning. Had a few issues with a coolant leak that I didnt tighten a hose clamp down enough but fixed that. Had a big air pocket that stopped the heater working but we bled it for ages and fixed that too.
Shut the bonnet for the first time in 2 weeks and started to pack up the tools.
Then i came back from our weekly meet and found a pool of coolant under the middle of the car. First thought was oh fork the head gaskets are leaking. Climbed under and it seems like the water pump or something in that area. Dicks.

Thanks for the regular & great updates also.
PITA about the leak. There's always gotta be something though, right.

Theres always something but a coolant leak isnt the worse thing that could happen. Im thinking that flushing the radiator with cleaning stuff loosened all the gunk that was sealing it.I contemplated using some stop leak, but the more sensible side of me prevailed. Not going to do it today. Need a day off from it all

Leak is hopefully sorted. One $3 gasket and a an afternoons work still counting. Cant for the life of me get the timing belt back on properly. Either its 1 tooth out or when trying to get the belt back on the drivers side exhaust when it finally slides on the passenger side snaps out of position.
ing cubt of a thing. I think with two people i could get enough stretch on the belt to slide it over the drivers exhaust cam rather than having it sort of snap onto it.

I think that could be my problem. I remember doing that to get it on with the engine out but I must of been following a different guide this time. I was ignoring it till last but i think removing it is the way to go. Either way ive got reinforcements for tomorrow to have a crack at it again
its and idler btw
