Very enjoyable read Matt!
Now on to the joyful job of draining 50L of 10 month old fuel....ive managed to siphon it out without getting a mouth full of fuel yet lol
Why not just hotwire the fuel pump?
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Yeah contemplated that...though it was pretty easy to just open the second level sensor lid and throw a hose in

Loving the progress!
I quite like the RS boot over the 6spd shifter. Little bit of old and new.

Deburred, filed and cleaned out the cold side intercooler pipework and clamped it all up, put the horns and headlights back in properly
Also got a fire extinguisher whilst at bunnings and mounted that to a bracket ive had sitting around....had to drill out the seat bolt thread that has been crap since i bought the car...rethreaded it to 12mm 1.25 and put a hi tensile bolt in...need a slightly longer one...but itll do the job for the time being

And due to fitting some series 1 legacy carpet out of a wagon and it being a grey i had to swap the new carpet on to my old rs kick panels. Found a new contact adhesive that looks the goods and tore the old stuff off and glued the new stuff on....completes the interior that touch more

And as hinted above, i am just waiting on my dccdpro uni controller with oem sti switches to arrive to help control the 6 speeds centre diff
I was heaps happy with the one in my old gen3 so why ruin a good thing

ITS ALIVE!!!!!
Started first go

Sounds lumpy once its all warmed up, and not too loud at all considering its only got half an exhaust system lol
So thats a pretty damn big milestone reached....finally hahaha
Only one issue found..and that is the black tin cover that is on the bottom of the engine clutch housing that almost hugs the flywheel....one part on the clutch just touches it and made a sound...scared me as i thought it may be internal :/
But after getting under the car and poking around i found it was just this cover plate
Hoping to just bend it slightly outta the way...i got under and bent it ever so slightly...but that made it worse!!!!
So im gonna have to remove the plate. .and anyone whos seen these plates knows they arent easy to remove with the engine in

Any tips im all ears?
Think if i cant fumble the bolts out mm by mm....then ill undo the engine mounts and jack the engine up a touch to give me more space
Also after much swearing working under the dash (i hate it!!) I got the dccdpro installed....tests out all good electronically...will see how it goes once the car is on the road

That engine sounds like a rotary at idle
Jack the engine up mate. Easy as.

Ju at undo the engine mounts to the subframe and put a jack under it to get it up
Just 5mm would make all the difference lol
And yeah it sounds sweet

Nothing like that tentative moment on start up after putting in a new engine or converting an auto to manual.
