"The guy" has a name

"Maxxing out" was probably a touch exagerated, Theyre running pretty damn close to it though Alexxx...lots of fuel, 20psi (because gen3) and i know its above 90%...so not much extra to SAFELY play with

Main reasoning was i would only use these as an absolute minimum...no way in hell would i run my new tdo5-20g off them lol....i was told i needed 750cc minimum but due to inconsistencies with the 750cc ID injectors weve up'd that to 1000cc to be on the safe side ;)

sorry mate only skimmed through and quick reply :)

565's are fine for up to 240kw atw so 550's won't be far off, just check out results on rexnet for stock 02-05 STi's running big turbos with stock injectors.

been there done that with all these mods mentioned above, so speaking from personal experience...

Mk, yeah im only going off what Michael was telling me whilst he was tuning the car...i believe him as he was the one with the laptop in hand ;)....im gonna be running 23psi into a 2L and hopefully around the 250-260kw atw mark with the 20g, so they wouldnt have come close to handling it

Agreed that he wont be running anywhere near that boost, so they "should" handle it fine

I highly agree with the 18G comment though as the tho5-20g needs a bit to spool properly and to make full potential ;)

Put it down to a bad tune I think. Have to get some more info off Mercury but they're pretty sure it was a bad tune.

Not sure how I'm going to go about it.

EJ257 shorty, 205 heads and then you win.

What failed in the original engine?

So had the car been tuned yet? Or was it still on the tune from when you recieved it?

Not 100% sure yet. Waiting to hear back from them.
They pretty much said: replace the engine with a brand new one from Subaru and get the heads machined.
Or rebuild the whole engine.
They blamed it directly on the tune and said that the boost may have been too high. The guy who tuned it said it was only 1psi above stock boost...

Wtf?? That's farmed Sam! Sorry to hear mate. Something doesn't sound right. Be very interested to know exactly what the problem was.

It's very rare for a tuner to cop a blown engine. Seen it many times before, all care but no responsibility. I hope for your sake you get something out of it

if it was pinging then you had a problem all along, did you check AFR's? IAM status? get a tactrix cable and download learning view and do a quick scan and post up results, will tell you a lot of info about the tune.
