It's good to have the engine to match the scoop. ;)

Outback look hot Sam, nice job.

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?

Stickers aren't my thing. Good thing it's not my car.

Car is looking good at the moment. How is she mechanically? Any nigglies that need ironing out?

I bet you're super stoked! ;)

Yeah, like i said the fad will probably die off..

The only problem im having is when im on full boost. I can hear a very loud sort of popping/cracking noise.. I have been told by my mechanic and also Ben@Ichiban that the car is pinging…
The tuner i used though, (throttlehappy) said that the AFRs are normal and that its ok to still drive, but im extremely hesitant.

I still cant help but give her some, but i suppose i shouldnt… :/
Dyno tune is coming up before powercruise so hopefully we can work out what the problem is before too soon.

In other news, the engine cover came today.
Not to suit this engine, so I got to work with a pair of pliers, a file and a drill and its on there!

Cleans it up pretty good i reckon… What do you think?

I'm not sure if the TMIC has enough exposure to the venting given by the bonnet scoop.

Pinging is a little bit concerning.

Had it up on a dyno? If it truly is ping, it'd certainly show there.

I will be cutting a bit more plastic from the left hand side of the cover, to allow a bigger opening. Just need to get myself the proper tool to cut it...

And not as yet. The only 4 wheel dyno in Coffs was being repaired and should be fixed by now. The tuner doesn't get into Coffs until the start of next month.

Looks good sam, its an idea to make up a custom scoop surround to seal to the face of the tmic, as the tiny b4 scoop struggles to feed the wrx/sti top mounts...from my experience anyway ;) i had to add a lip to my scoop to get a just adequate feed to my sti cooler

Without a seal the air just goes around the cooler, not through it

And pinging sounds scary, take it easy on the loud pedal until its been gone over on the dyno, you dont want to destroy the engine...with the new turbo and exhaust its probably leaning out a tiny bit on boost and spiking higher than the ecu wants

You should have dropped into msr for a tune while you were down here for wtac ;)

Ok thanks mate I will be sure to look into the scoop/splitter idea!

Yeah it does, i really wouldnt want to damage the engine…

I still have the TD04 stock turbo on it for now. Am looking at a TD05 20g right now (i know, a little more lag, but its at such a good price)..
Tune next week on the dyno if all goes to plan :)

Oh ok nice! Yeah im about to run a tdo5/20g bbk (billet wheel goodness with a 7cm rear housing...ohhhh yyeeeaaahhhh!)

You might want an sti cooler at a minumum if youre goung that path, and maybe even sone bigger injectors? I may have both up for sale soon when i sell my twin scroll bits n pieces....if 550s will be adequate? Im running 1000cc's in my 20g as my 550s are maxed out with my turbo at a tad under 200kw

Well then turbo is on its way. Hopefully here by the weekend so i can install on sunday arvo once I get back from the central coast.

(the new motor is getting a bit of a workout on the highway, WTAC, then central coast this weekend to pick up some new blue sti seats, then Powercruise next weekend)
Tune will be coming on Tuesday, got the dyno booked and the tuner is available!

I suppose I will start looking at an Sti top mount and some bigger injectors at some stage, maybe after powercruise…

Just put the new Cold Air intake on… The thing sounds crazy!!! BOV is way too noisy haha. Will see how we go after a few days.
Also installed the new GFB adjustable short shifter, did it in the dark tonight so will be adjusting it properly tomorrow!

Anyone know how much boost i should be running with the TD05 20g?

Cheers, Sam
